Hello, The estate I have pages 78,79 and 27,28 of Solomon Shepherd, please note the spelling on the estate papers is Shepherd. The document is in very very bad shape as of 10 years ago, but I have a faint copy. After the total is listed of items, the signers are John H(?) Maddox, James Givens(?), George Mecine(?) and ?? may be William Walker(??). ___ ___ held for Lewis County on Monday the twentith day of July 1812. The foregoing Inventory and appraisement of the estate of Solomon Shepherd; Desceased was returned and ___ to be certified & Recorded. signed Joseph Robb(??) There are 23 entries for people who gave as they term it contra. No. 13 is John H Maddux rect $.75 No. 1 & 2 Peter Arnold (The Arnold Heirs and Shepherd heirs later on 1827 have court settlement papers that list all Solomons Children and spouses for the women.) No. 10 & 15 John Osbourn No. 11 George Pollitt No. 17 John Shepherd No. 21 John Bell No. 22 Israel Bell No. 23 Richard Conaway No. 11 FR Singleton 1. Earlier in 1810 we have the following: There are court ordered settlements from Dec 3, 1810 between Solomon Shepherd, David Arnold, Peter Arnold, Richard Conway and Aaron Owens of Lewis County and George Stockton of Fleming Co. and the principle party is a James Marshall and wife Hester from the County of Frederrell state of Virgina 2. Later in 1823 we have legal documents from the Peter Arnold v. Solomon Shepherd Heirs dated July 7th 1823. This is basically a land suit in which it names the following heirs of a Solomon Shepherd(referred to as deceased) - the following are the names as taken from the document. “John Shepherd, Polly Bell late Polly Shepherd, Solomon Shepherd(son), Sarah Osborn late Sarah Shepherd, Nancy Pollett late Nancy Shepherd, Elizabeth Matney late Elizabeth Shepherd, Michael Shepherd, Joseph Shepherd, Samuel Shepherd, Rebekah Conway late Rebekah Shepherd, Elijah Shepherd and Ruth Shepherd”. Now this suit revolves around land located at the North Fork of Licking and adjoining Peter Arnolds. There are 3 documents describing the parties to the suit which all tie to a land deed between Solomon Shepherd and a Mr. Stockton from 1797. The suit is being represented by Solomon & Michael Shepherd sons of the deceased Elder Solomon Shepherd. I have a land deed copy between Solomon & George Stockton from 1797, then we have a court order settlement dated 1810 between James Marshall and Solomon Shepherd, Peter Arnold, David Arnold, Richard Conway, Aron Owens and George Stockton, and finally we have a court ordered settlement from 1823 between heirs of Solomon and Peter Arnold Sadly I do not have anything concrete to say who Solomon Shepherds siblings may have been, but I can say we know who his children are. Below is a break down of the children and who they married and some of where they went. If anyone can tie in to these people please let me know. Thanks - Mark Shepherd direct descendant of Elijah Shepherd. b. = born d. = death m. = married Solomon Shepherd b. ? d. 1812(Lewis Co., KY) (Deed Places them in Mason Co. KY 1797) m. I have page 27-29 because I was gathering info on my John H. Maddox. The signers are John H. Maddox, James Givens, George Means and William Walker. Your missing phrase is "At a Court" held for Lewis Co....July 1812. I have the inventory but not the sale. I always type out ("transcribe") old documents because they are so hard to read. I also use a magnifying glass to transcribe. I had hoped my John H. Maddox was related to your Solomon Shepherd, perhaps his wife, Elizabeth's, maiden name. But I have found nothing. Hope this helps.
