    1. [ KYLEWIS] RE: Book: Pioneer Families
    2. -----A previous message stated----- >I have both books and submitted my family history for the second book. I >had worked very hard to make it as accurate as possible as many false >statement had come down over the years. Who ever edited the book chose >to cut my history alot. They left out children and .... gave many false >statements ............. > > I hesitate to complain about the work of volunteers but I had the same experience. I spent a couple of days preparing the most accurate report I could and submitted it for inclusion in the book. The information that made the book (Volume 1) had the family in the county earlier then my records show, dropped branches of the family that I provided information on and showed my Great Grandmother married to her son (possibly a stepson). I concluded that they either didn't receive my information or decided to ignore it.. For the record, I am a volunteer at another county's historical society. I know the amount of hard work that volunteers do and the frustration of being criticized because a major project created by unpaid workers does not meet somebody expectations. We shouldn't expect perfection but certainly should expect reasonable caution be taken to avoid errors. I have heard to many reports of problems with these books to consider recommending anybody purchase one.
