Hi! I've just found out that my gr-gr-gr grandfather, William M. Wells was a Union Civil War Veteran. He lived in Vanceburg during the 1880 & 1900 censuses, & is listed as enumerated on the 1890 Veteran;s schedule. An older family member just told me that he recollects that he lived out his final years in an Old Soldier's Home. I presume he died by 1910 because he doesn't show up in the census for that year. Does anyone know of a Veteran's home in Vanceburg sometime between 1880-1910? Thank you! Elizabeth Gerber San Francisco, CA
