    3. Dear Subscribers to the Lewis County, Kentucky Mailing List, Jacob POWELL and William POWELL, ages 34 and 35, both born in Ohio, were listed as IRON MAKERS in the 1850 Census of District One, Lewis County, Kentucky, page 210, dwellings 111 and 112. William POWELL was recorded as possessing an estate valued at $7,000. Does anyone know the name of the iron furnace that these men worked at? I am not familiar with any iron furnaces in Lewis County, but I know that New Hampshire Furnace and Kenton Furnace in neighboring Greenup County were not very far away. Or, would the POWELLs have had an interest in an iron fuirnace of Adams County, Ohio, across the Ohio River? The POWELLs must have lived on or near the Ohio River, because an Ohio River steamboat pilot, Thomas COLLIER, lived seven households from Jacob POWELL and William POWELL. Thank you for any suggestions or information, and continued best wishes to the researchers of Lewis County! Sincerely, Randal "Randy" W. Cooper
