I have more than 16,000 names in the data now. All the names connect in some way to those original Aills names in LCK. They aren't related, they just 'connect or link' because that's the only way the names can be found and make sense in my data. I spend a lot of hours going over the census records to see if I find names in the census records that I have in my data and then add what I find to my file. I work with two other ladies who help me find sources, documentation and confirmation by searching for names on the Web, in FamilySearch.org and USGenWeb sites. Here's a sample of the way we work from two nights ago: <<<<<<<<In a message dated 1/16/2006 12:18:11 AM Central Standard Time, SAN66ZEN writes: > next door is > James Aills, 35 WHO IS THIS? > Malinda 30 > Ruth 15 > Annie 10 > The James Aills has to be James Lewis Aills married to Matilda E. Plummer. The census taker didn't cross the 'T' on Matilda and I read it Malinda. The Ruth has to be Rebecca Jane b 1865 and Elizabeth Anne that I have born in 1869. Right??? On that 1880 census page 9, the first entry is Walk Ailes 52 <(William Walker Aills' grandson) married to Catherine 30 (Scynthia Catherine Dunaway) and their daughters Nora 8 and Amelia 4. In the next dwelling is James Ailes 35 (James Lewis Aills s/o Thomas and Amanda Aills ) and Matilda 30 (Matilda E. Plummer) and their daughters Ruth 15 (Rebecca Jane b 1865) and Anne 10 (Elizabeth Ann b 1869) In the next dwelling is Thomas Pressly 30 b 1845 and Mary 39 (Mary Jane Aills b 1842 d/o Thomas and Amanda Swearington Aills) and their children Edward, James and Martha. In the next dwelling is Riley, W 31 (William W Riley b 1849) and Sidney 25 (Sidney Dunaway sister of Scynthia Catherine Dunaway m to William Walker Aills.) They have children Joseph 10, Leonard 7, Anne 4, and Martha. Living with them is servant Annie Crawford. Is she related? In the next dwelling is Charles Plummer 30 (brother of Matilda E Plummer, w/o James Lewis Aills. Matilda and Charles Plummer's parents are James Lewis P Plummer and Harriet Riley.) (Harriet Riley was the daughter of Samuel J Riley, Sr., and Christina Stricklett. Harriet Riley's brother Leonard Riley was the father of William W Riley who was William Walker Aills' brother in law. Leonard Riley's wife and the mother of William W Riley was Lydia Elizabeth Presley b June 10, 1834. (Now how is Lydia Elizabeth Presley related to Thomas Pressley who was married to Mary Jane Aills? I don't have her parents.) Thomas Pressly's parents John Pressley 80 and his wife Mary 70 are the last entry on page 8. All these people are related to each other. Looks like William Walker Aills, grandson of John, married into the same family that James Lewis Aills, Thomas Aills' son married into and that's what brought James and William Walker living next door to each other. What do you think??? I'm going to bed it 2:21 am........... sandra >>>>>>>>>>> As far as the HAMLIN surname in LCK, I have James Hamlin b 1780, m to Sarah unknown b 1805, found in 1850 LCK census. They were parents of 6 children. I haven't 'extended' the children by looking for additional data other than Margaret who may be their child. Margaret married Joshua Johnson Esham and they are found in the 1850 LCK census. I've had a lot of help from other people who have sent me their family files on particular surnames., ie., Plummer, Gulley, Applegate and more. I'll never get all the data but I'm getting pretty good at understanding and knowing who's who and how they connect to each other in the census records. Every entry brings more questions and ways to search as you can see from my questions from two nights ago. I really have fun with this file. Thanks, Sandra
