Hi, I have Elijah COX (born Kentucky) married to Lydia MARTIN (born Kentucky), who lived in Lewis County KY. Their daughter Permelia COX (1826-1905) was married in Georgetown, Brown County OHIO to Aaron BULL in 1845, so I think that the family went back and forth across the river. Many members of the COX family died in a local cholera epidemic. Permelia was in Georgetown at the time. She may have been the only family member who survived, but I don't really have a lot of information. Does anyone have any light to shed on this family? Diane Hettrick Seattle [email protected]

Cousin Gus was a dear sweet man but in his later days, he got a bit vague. I've tried to find out where his papers went after he died but a letter to his son was forwarded without reply to a relative of the DOYALs which was not really useful to me since I'm related to him through the VOIERS family. Sue >> Hi Sue, I meant no disrespect for Gus as I got a lot of good information from him about the Strickletts. I am 83 this month and I've been know to tell different stories about things also. I just wanted to warn Mike that any information gathered in from the web or otherwise should be checked out if possible. Some things are not possible to be checked out, so until I hear otherwise I continue to carry that information in my records. Tom Powell in New Hampshire
Bruce, Please put what information you can find on the RILEY family, I think it is great! Thanks for all you do. I feel like I am always the "taker" and not a giver. Seems everyone knows and has more than I do. You helped me get the RILEY/SMITH worked out, thank goodness. You are doing a great job and I do Appreciate all you do. I am sorry I never publicly said so before. Derre Manama, BAHRAIN

There have been many false starts and names given as the maiden name for Margaret (Martha) Cox. Gus Doyle first gave me that information some time ago, but I was never sure with Gus as his names and stories kept changing from time to time. If you have time to reply to Mark, please send me a copy of the message. STRICKLETT is my wife's maiden name so that's why I'm pursuing this line. My line is POWELL, IRELAND, GOCHENOUER . Hello everyone...I'm searching for my grandfather's ancestors and siblings. My grandfather's name was Jack Layne or I have seen it as Jackson Lane. He was born in Kentucky, December 1873; he died in 1930. He was living in Olive Hill, KY, Carter County when he died. He was married to Catherine Dicie Seagraves and their children were: Vasco, Estill, Gert, Opal, Zella, Maude, Mrytle and Golda. If you have any information on this family, I would truly appreciate hearing from you. Tootie

I am still researching Frank W Morgan m Rebecca Burchett and his family. Thru his death certificate it is established that he was born in Lewis Co in 1861. His parents names (per this document) were Daniel Morga and Martha Lemaster. A cousin, however, indicates Frank's father was called Billie, so maybe its William Daniel. Anyway, a William Morgan (widower), age 60 along with a son, Frank W, age 17 is shown in the 1880 Lewis Co Census. Also Frank is found in the 1900 Lewis Co census as age 37 with wife and family. This seems to confirm, that the entry above on William and Frank is the one. Frank and Rebecca show up in 1910 in Wolfe Co. What I'm looking for is some further help in locating gravesites for Marth and William (or Daniel) or some other evidence of there existence which I assume to be in Lewis Co. At one time Frank is known to have lived around Vanceburg, Ky. Help anyone and thank you in advance. Jack
No, I have no information on a Stephenson at all. Sue Bishop
Kellie or Pam or any other, When an inventory of an estate was requested and generally 3 or so people are requested to perform the inventory are they usually public officials, friends of the family or relatives of the family? I noticed from Pams response that Ruggel was a Commissioner of Estates so I suspect that they are public officials. So - is there any way from a inventory list & request to possibly determine a maiden name to the desceased? Does anybody have access to wills for Lewis Co. 1810-1816 specifically trying to find Elizabeth & Solomon Shepherds. Thanks Mark Shepherd Seeking maiden name of Elizabeth Shepherd married to Solomon Shepherd died 1815 Lewis Co.
