    2. Where is Cabin Creek? You'll probably get a dozen answers on this one. Cabin Creek is about 10 miles or so east of Maysville, Ky, very close in to the Ohio River. While I now live in the West, when I visit relatives on Cabin Creek I go east on Rte 10 out of Maysville about 10 miles to Plumville, then turn left on a black top road down a hill that leads toward the Cabin Creek road and Cabin Creek. The Post Office for Cabin Creek is now Vanceburg, Ky.

    2. Sorry, I don't. I have never seen reference to these names in any of my papers. However, I am getting a book entitled Dixon Clan: Scotland, Ireland and America from James H. Dixon. He wrote this in 1996. I would be happy to look up these names in the book when I receive (probably in a week or so). Dede

    2. Exactly where in Lewis Co. is Cabin Creek? I'm trying to trace the connection between William M. Veirs, his son Edward Veirs and Robert Viers. William's daughter Anne married George Clark and settled in Lewis County. In the Revolutionary War records which list Robert Viers, there is a man in his company named George Clark. I am assuming this is the same George Clark. Since William M. Veirs, his son Edward, his daughter Anne, his son-in-law George Clark are all from Maryland, and Robert Viers is from Virginia, it would be of great help if I can find some kind of connection between the Viers of Virginia and the Veirs of Maryland. I am trying to find the exact location of William Veir's land and Robert Viers' land. Sue

    2. Cabin Creek can also be found on Rt. 10 going towards Tollsboro and before you make the turn off (to the right) to Charters. There is a historical sign their by the side of the road and it is/was really a creek. My Dixon/Davis relatives lived in that area. Dede Ard

    2. I would like to know if there are any Eubanks records in Lewis County, KY. My gg-father, Francis M. Eubanks was born around 1837 in Ky, but I don't know where or his parents names. Around 1870 he married Anna Elizabeth Paris and lived in Adams County, Ohio. They are listed in Adams County in the 1880 and 1900 census. Bob Eubanks

    1. Re: [KYLEWIS-L] Stricklett/McCleese/Riley
    2. Tom: I've kept your post regarding Thomas Ruggles and Amelia Stricklett/Burris. When I first started doing my research in the early 1970's I had the same information. I received this information from Helen Rudy Wallingford Pryor. I still have her letter dated Jan 1973. She refers to Thomas' first wife as Amelia Stricklett, dau of Mathew and Ruth Scott Stricklett. She refers to his second wife as Elizabeth Lee the possible daughter of Barton Lee. Then later in the letter she mentions an article in the Sumner County Kansas paper which states: "The paternal grandparents of our subject were Thomas and Louisa (Bourse) Ruggles, both of whom were born in New England, the grandfather being of English ancestry." The article was about Moses and Eliza (Roberts) Ruggles. She further states that she is in possession of photocopies of the Bible records of Anna Eliza Ruggles, b. Mar 29 1845 and they show data of Thomas Ruggles and his family, also of Silas A. (Anderson) Ruggles and his family. I have never found anything that confirms the marriage of Thomas Ruggles to a Stricklett. I'm wondering where this info first came from. Phoebe Pantier Bush [email protected]
