    2. Sue Neal
    3. Nancy (in Nebraska), I'm curious if there is any mention of a NEAL, A.Dent. mentioned in either cemetary book that you have for Lewis County. We're not really sure what the "A" stood for, he was born circa 1848. AD, as he was sometimes called was alledgely quite a character in Vanceburg... attorney, judge, artist! A quite a ladies man according to my husband's aunt. Also ... I am trying to document the marriage of A.Dent NEAL to Jennie Belle Lewis. We have located documentation of his first marriage to Charie WEBSTER in Sept 1869, and his third marriage to Florence TOLLE 1 Jan 1906, but can't find any indication that he and Jennie were actually married! or divorced for that matter! 2. Hannah Jane Moore (1864-1941) was my grandmother. She married Samuel McCleese in Lewis Co on Nov 9, 1886. Her parents were Francis Marion Moore and Nancy Dyerlin(Darling) Moore. I have no other info. Does these Moores match anyone ? JudyMcCleese, Naples, Fla

    3. A interesting not about the Alexander SMITH that appeared in the 1850 census is that he had a daughter , Amanda SMITH that married a George STRICKLETT in 1849. George and Amanda both died in 1852 of Typhoid fever leaving two small sons, John and Charles STRICKLETT. Alexander SMITH raised these two boys. The Alexander SMITH family moves to MO and later to KS after the death of George and Amanda. Below are the SMITHs I found in the Two cemetery books I have. Remember there are 13 more -details on getting those books at end of letter. I do not know about adoptions in Lewis County but sure someone at Historical Society can answer that. Woodland or Woodlawn Cemetery (This is the way it was listed) Lewis County, Ky SMITH, frank 1899-1915 SMITH, Ruby 1927-1928 SMITH, Francis Merle 1874-1941 SMITH, Emer T. 1877-1930 SMITH, Nancy J. 1828-1922 SMITH, Jennie B. 1879-1920 Smith, Lewis E. 1886-1914 The Lewis County Cemtery Books can be purchased for a cost of $10.00 each from: Lewis County Historical Society P.O. B ox 212 Vanceburg, KY 41179 They also have many other books-census, obituary, etc. for sale. Ask for a list of books when you write. 3. Does anyone know anything about the James COOPER who was born April 1851 (according to the census) and was living in Lewis Co. KY in 1900? I believe his second wife may have been my Hannah Sparks Cassidy. In the 1900 census James does have a wife named Hannah and then in 1910 the census shows Hannah Cooper widowed and living with her is James Harvey Cassidy who was the youngest living son of my Hannah Sparks Cassidy. If James' second wife Hannah was NOT my Hannah I'd like to know that. 3. Thanks so much Sandy, I do believe that's the one I'm looking for, I know his wife was Catherine. Many many thanks. Are you a descendant of Alfred??? I have a diary of my great grandfather, John Collier that said he went to visit Alfred on one of his trips, near Portsmouth, OH. But no mention of how he was related or any children. Thanks again. I really appreciate your time in typing the information and looking it up for me. Donna
