    3. Hello A Civil War sketch by Ella V. Preston on Don Chesnut's webpage tells of the death of Harlan Co Battalion member James Lewis in a "late autumn" at a house at the head of Big Cowan. This matches family lore that our ancestor Lewis was killed at a house during the Civil War. Does anyone know if this would have been the Battle of Leatherwood? In Major Blankenship's Daily Reports, he gives only three Battalion deaths: one from a wound on Oct 19, 1862; and two killed Dec. 13. The Preston article says that a Confederate soldier, John Collier, was also killed when James Lewis was killed. I would love to have any info that's out there. Also, is the reenactment of the Battle of Leatherwood to be held Oct 20-30? If so, I'm unable to attend, but would love to be in contact with someone who could ask around about Lewis. Thank you all Phyllis Richerson descendant of the Lewises
