But, a check of the marriage records concerning James Garrett "Garr" Hensley & Caroline Brittian in book A page 116 at the Harlan Court House will show the following notation. "Below is the note from parents where they state it is O.K. for their dau to get married. June the tenth 1873 Mr. Camel E. Hurst: My son James G. Hensley and Caroline Brittain has agreed to marry and we aint got the money to pay for the lisons now we will arrang it shortly we the parents are both willing (signed) Wilson Hensley James Brittain" With this info also provided. "Source: Harlan Footprints, Volume 1, Number 2, December 1982. "The marriage itself is recorded on Book A Page 16 in the Harlan County Court Clerk's office. The date of the marriage was on the 12 June at Wilson' Hensley's, performed by H.F. Hensley, witnessed by William B. Hensley & William Brittain. By 1870 census records, James Garrard Hensley would have been about 18 years old and Caroline Brittain about 15." Whether this information is correct or not. I have no idea but it is the only thing available now days for us to go on. If this info is correct then Caroline would have been 12 years old when she had the son you list born 1870 James Garrett Hensley, Jr.. Again Darrell if you take this as blasting you, that is not what it is meant to be. It is the recorded facts at Harlan Court House. Randy Oplinger
