I am looking for information on Hiram Raleigh b. 1850, Letcher Co., KY, the son of William Raleigh b. 1820 d. 1900, and wife. On the 1850 census, William Raleigh's wife is listed as "Mary" , but on her tombstone at Oven Fork, Her name is Louisa, so may have been Mary Louisa Branson Raleigh b. 1823 d. 1901. Their son, Hiram Raleigh, married Margaret Asher on May 22, 1884, in Letcher Co. He may have been married after Margaret's death in 1918, to a Nancy Scott. For some reason, on my gr.grandmother, Louisa Raleigh Bolling's death certificate, it gives Nancy Scott as her mother, but I believe that Margaret Asher was really her mother, due to her birthdate. Hiram and Margaret Asher Raleigh are the parents of my gr.grandmother, Louisa Raleigh Bolling b.1877 d. 1943, married Ivory Morrell Bolling, son of William and LouEmma Hamilton Bolling of Flat Gap, VA. on 27 May, 1897 in Partridge, KY, by Dave Maggard, in the presence of John Caudill. I know a lot about my Bollings, but virtually nothing about the Raleighs. I do know that Louisa Raleigh Bolling had a brother named William "Will", who had bees. If I have any Raleigh cousins on this board, or anyone who has information on my family, I would love to hear from you. My father, who passed away in 2002, remembered his Grandfather Raleigh, but was only 8 years old when Papaw Hiram died, so really couldn't tell me too much.
