She was a resident of Liberty Nursing Home in Centerville and formerly of Franklin. She was born on July 13, 1918, in Seco, [Letcher County], Ky., to the late George Dennis and Victoria (Whitaker) Mounts. She was the wife of the late Samuel Johnston. She loved children and lived her life surrounded by children. She was a second mother to many children, other than her own. Her life was a rich tapestry of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers, Clayton Combs and George Mounts, Jr., and her sisters, Faye Perkins and Alma Hammond. She is survived by her daughter, Scarlett (Dean) Breeding of Carlisle; sons, Samuel (Charlesette) Johnston of Naples, Fla., and Richard (Belinda) Johnston of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Jackie Osborne of Kansas City, Mo., and Sue Vance of West Liberty, Ky.; sister-in-law, Goldie Blankenship; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron) Cook, Suzanne (Louis) Holston, Cynthia (Russell) Cain, Cheryl (Troy) Kohagen, Colleen (Paul)McIntyre, Heather Guerlet, Marisa (Ed) Wills, Greg and Mathew Johnston, and Michael (Melisande) Johnston; and great grandchildren Kandice (Charles) Barnes, Sean (Kelda) Bluhm, Dennis Bluhm, Christopher (Eva) Turner, Stephen Turner, Allison Turner, Jeremy Jackson, Aimee (James) Saunders, Scarlett Jackson, Chad Kohagen, Austin Wills, Emily Wills, and Caleb Johnston and 5 grandchildren. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery in Springboro. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. MEMORIALS: Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Condolences may be made to the family via www.andersonfuneralhomes.com
