It appears you have a come across a common error in the lineage (one I myself had as well). It turns out that Richard's wife was not Mary Caudill, but Mary Belle Cook. It was an error I only recently discovered with the help of some other cousins. If the family you are researching is with a Caudill (which there may be one, which could be the source of the error), the lineage info provided in the replys would not be yours', which could explain the quesions about the Dempsey connection.
