We have old family photo showing him as a sheriff. Family was from the Letcher County area, but not sure if he was sheriff there. Also in the photo is my ggrandfather George, James' son. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Would specifically like to know what county he was sheriff, and any info on his character. Was he a good sheriff. It was said of him that he lived by his guns and died by them. We just want to know what kind of person he was.
