Her daughter Hortense Lee was born in Russell County Virginia in 1861. At one time or another Rachel Lee lived in Roanoke Virginia. Rachel would have been about 18 years old when her daughter was born. There was no father listed on Hortense's birth record so Maybe Rachel was not married yet. Now I am sure that Rachel Lee married Henry Bates in KY on March 13, 1870 and had several Bates children.... but I have been given other names for her husbands from the children of Hortense and Joseph Reynolds such as Jim Turner and Isaac Friley.
