Some have posted on the web, and included in their genealogies, that the wife of 1770/75 John WALKER (Knox County, Ky John), son of 1818 John WALKER, was Lucy DENES, a fact that has not been documented to my knowledge. My contention has always been that this is a result of confusing the wording of an 1818 lawsuit by John WALKER (actually, the son of Knox County, KY John WALKER) against the administrators of James DEVERS estate on behalf of William and Polly DEVERS. The word "Devers" was mistaken for "Denes". I have uploaded, to my webpage, an image of October 13th, 1818 Power of Attorney that led to the confusion. Go to: http://members.aol.com/rwa5352802 and click on "Walker", then on "Devers or Denes?". It is referenced as Clay County, Ky Court Book A, Page 223. Regards, Bob Walker

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FBB.2ACE/904 Message Board Post: Hello the list! Please excuse the cross-postings. I realize that many researchers subscribe to multiple lists and probably don't want to receive more than one copy of the same message; however, I'm trying to reach as wide an audience of Kentucky historians and genealogists as possible so please bear with me. We are actively engaged in digitizing scarce and out-of-print 19th century map and atlas data for use in genealogical and historical research of this period of Kentucky's history. Each month we receive a number of requests for specific material; either individual maps of a specific region or county atlases from a specific period. Until now, there has been no urgency to document requests for material, and the requests have been handled more or less piecemeal. With this in mind, the short questionnaire below was developed. If you are interested in hard to find research material that is configured for compatible access from your computer, please take a couple of minutes to respond to the five questions below by e-mailing me directly off-list. questions@historic-atlas-series.com Again, thank you for your time and cooperation. 1.) What features are you most interested in when using 19th century atlases and maps in your research? Land owners? Industrial or Commercial site locations? Place names? Transportation routes? 2.) What statistical and historical atlas data do you find most useful in your research? Population? Agriculture? Geological Data? County Histories? Biographical Sketches? Illustrations of People and Places? 3.) What specific region or regions of Kentucky are you most interested in? Please list all counties of interest and any specific material you would like to have computer access to. Include any known bibliographic references. 4.) For general material listed in question 3, please provide the periods of time or date ranges of interest. Again, for specific requests please provide bibliographic reference. 5.) When using research material that has been formatted for computer access, which is the most important: Resolution and detail of the images for printing? Speed of loading and access? Thank you for taking the time to reply to this questionnaire. questions@historic-atlas-series.com We value the input of folks who ultimately will use research material that has been configured for use electronically. Your comments, suggestions and requests for material will be recorded and prioritized, and will influence the kinds of material we continue to make available for researchers such as yourselves. Best Regards, Rich Green Historic Atlas Series http://www.historic-atlas-series.com
CORRECTION: In my earlier post I had a typo error date on William E. CORNETT as 1848 (error) should have read 1833 birth and he md Matilda Stamper 1836. They are the parents of nine children starting with LUCINDA 1857. Among their children are daughters named: ELIZABETH 1859, MARTHA 1873, MARY 1875. I do not show TWINS in my data. Could they be TWINS? William E. Cornett 1833 is s/o Roger Cornett 1805-1885 md Polly Lewis 1809-1873 (Perry 1850). Hope this helps your research. JOHN in CA (born in Leslie County)
Hello There! It appears you need to add much more information about your ancestors with approximate dates of birth, full names of your grandparents, parents in order to assist you in your research. The only help I can give you at this writing, is that my data shows the following parents MAY be the parents you seek of LUCINDA CORNETT. There are other Lucinda Cornett from parents with Letcher County, KY backgrounds, but the following may be a start. Dates represent Birth Years. > John Samuel Cornett 1759VA-12 Mar 1841 (Am. Rev.) md 2nd, in 1796, Polly Davidson 1774. They had: > Samuel Cornett 1803 md Sarah Lucy McDaniel 1803 > They had: > (1) Hiram M. Cornett 1834 md Jane McKnight (1860 Letcher Co., Ky) > They had: > LUCINDA CORNETT 1857 and, > WILLIAM CORNETT 1858 > Samuel Cornett and Sarah Lucy McDaniel had another son named SAMUEL, Jr. 1839 - died 1885 (Brother of HIRAM) and he had a daughter named LUCINDA CORNETT in 1862 (Civil War Years). You may want to start research with these persons. MANY of the BOWLIN / Bolling / BOWLING you find in MO are descents of BENJAMIN BOLLING 1732-1832 and descents from his son DELANEY BOLLING and his wives. Again in KY Mr. WILLIAM E. CORNETT 1848KY had a daughter LUCINDA Cornett in 1867 who md a William M. Cornett 1848. There are more Lucinda Cornett, so we mention these as possible person you find in MO in 1890 census. JOHN in CA
