The reference is taken from the book "A History of Ozark County 1841-1991", which states that they came to Ozark County from GA in 1859 or 1860. My husbands grandmother was Amanda Roberts and her mother was Sintha. We know they were at Tecumseh first, then after Sintha's husband was killed, they moved to the area near where we live now, but again she does not appear on the 1870 census. I need to go to the courthouse and see if I can track down if she might have remarried. But I can't find out even where the boys went although we know who the girls married. It's been a hard case to crack so to speak. But I do thank you for trying to help me, several people in the area have been trying to find out something about this family also, they are really elusive.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FBB.2ACE/991.1 Message Board Post: Hello, I am not related to either of these surnames so far as I know. On the KBI, I see this birth record: LeQUIRE, Wilahemia b. 1-31-1932 in Perry Co., kY; Vol. 204, Cert 93807; maiden name of mother: Nellie WILSON That was the only birth I saw for Nellie WILSON having LeQUIRE babies. Regarding Nellie WILSON's birth record, it is difficult to know because there were a number of Nelly/Nellie WILSON's born in the 1914, 1913 and 1915 or so periods of time in the areas surrounding Perry Co., KY. No way for me to know which one she might be. With regard to your friend, Wilma, who I am assuming is this Wilahemia b. 1932, several questions come to my mind. First, does Wilma have her own birth record so you can check the age of her mother at the time of Wilma's birth. If not, you should order from the State of Ky the birth record I have provided. Secondly, why would she not remember her own mother? One then assumes that the mother died at a young age and the child doesn't remember her or she left or the parents divorced or something like that. What were the names of the two children that were born in Letcher Co., KY and did they have the surname, LeQUIRE or some other surname? I would be finding that out. I checked the 1920 and the 1930 Fed. Census hoping to find a William Joseph or a Joseph or a William LeQUIRE in Letcher or Perry Co.'s but could not find him. There were LeQUIRE's in Harlan Co. and they were in Letcher Co. but no one by that particular name. Perhaps you can find out a bit more and come back and add that to your original query and some more could then be found out. Lastly, when did her mother and her father die and WHERE? If in KY, you could obtain those records. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA
