"Steve", DIXON, age 55 of Wayne Township, died Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born March 22, 1951 in Blackey, Kentucky the son of Woodrow Dixon and Eva (Back) Dixon. Mr. Dixon worked for Wayne Township on the Road Crew until his retirement. He was formerly a member of the Wayne Township Fire Department since the early 1980's and served as Fire Chief in the 1990's. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cathy (Ison) Dixon; a daughter, Stephanie (husband, Bill) Long of Miamisburg; son, David Matthew (wife, Louann) Dixon of Lebanon; three step-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Stephanie Sorrell and Kayla Long; two sisters, Greta Pannell and Freda Riley both of Jacksonburg; and his stepmother, Shirley Dixon of Gratis. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at th! e Simonson Chapel Cemetery.

I found his birth date to be 2 Apr 1895, this from his WWI registration card. So, the above record places his birth year at 1897 vice 1895. Hope this helps some.... Also found him in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census' with his parents and siblings in Letcher County. Do you know if he married and if so to whom? Gary Kahler

It appears you have a come across a common error in the lineage (one I myself had as well). It turns out that Richard's wife was not Mary Caudill, but Mary Belle Cook. It was an error I only recently discovered with the help of some other cousins. If the family you are researching is with a Caudill (which there may be one, which could be the source of the error), the lineage info provided in the replys would not be yours', which could explain the quesions about the Dempsey connection. She and Mayo did divorce and she did remarry, but her second husband was William Marion Craft. They lived in Letcher County until moving to Scioto County Ohio (Portsmouth/Lucasville), where both eventually died. Mayo Hampton also relocated to Scioto County, settling in Nelsonville. I grew up in Jenkins,Ky. about 10 minutes from Raven Rock. Seems like I remember later on some people built some houses as you went into Raven Rock and went to the right.
