My father found out he died by the newspaper later on. He was #2 from 14 kids and he had alot of family still living. Stephen Bryant 1868-1937 Parents-Hurum Bryant- Julie Jett Dora ( 1876-1963) she was a Terry .Breathitt/ Lee co . On some records I have him also as Arch Bryant I think I have looked under every Bryant /Hampton name for Katie. My sister is named Katie. My mom said that the father(Arch) beat Katie to death. my father told my sisters that all he could remember was his mother screaming, and then when my father died with cancer , he said his mother died with cancer.So what do I belive? Also one guy who answered one message said Arch stole a horse and at that time that was horse thieving and a big crime and left the country , could be how he ended up in Cynthiana Ky. Beverly

I just looked in the W.Virginia death record under Bryant and Hampton and nothing there .I just go from county to county and since Knott co was the last place I have for them I thought I would go a little further.My mother who passed away in March said that the kids were sent on a train to Breathitt .I have looked under every spelling I can think of for her .As for Demie I can't find a birth record for her ,I see a Dorothy but the mothers name is spelled different. I have sent out so many messages trying to find any info.Maybe she could have died years later and my father didn't know. His father Arch died in Cynthiana Ky at a place called Licking River Cottages (poor house).I'm just so confused as to why I can't find or hear anything concerning this. All of the children have passed and I didn't even know about the son Arch until lately .So I guess he died young.I was thinking of going to Frankfort Ky, but I don't have enough info. They were married 23 Sep. 1891 in Rowan Co., KY. Children: Helen May (Mae) Layne b. 13 March or May 1893 in Morehead, Rowan Co., KY. Charles H. Layne b. 11 May 1895 in Morehead, Rowan Co., KY. We haven't been able to find any of these people in census records before 1910 or any other records. Any help or information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
