Mr. Blair was born in Blackey, KY on December 1, 1925 to the late Sol & Nora (Caudill) Blair. He was a Baptist Minister that has served many churches for more than 40 years. Mr. Blair served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, twice receiving the Purple Heart award. Preceded in death by his brother, Rex Blair. Survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary (Watts) Blair; 2 daughters & son-in-law, Sandy Day, Lynn & Patrick Braden; 3 sons & daughters- in-law, Roy & Linda Blair, Owen Blair, Ronald & Dawn Blair; 9 grandchildren & numerous great grandchildren; sister, Estelle Day; 2 brothers & sisters-in-law, James & Aileen Blair, Leon & Jeri Blair; numerous nieces, nephews & many friends. My cousin, Roger Amburgey, sent me an obit on Edison "ED" Combs that has more family information. It may have been in the Mountain Eagle. Carter Edison "ED" Combs of Letcher passed away Friday, November 17, 2006 at his residence. Ed was the son of the late Shade combs and Ollie Adkins Combs. He was born December 24, 1935 being 70 years, 10 months and 25 days of age at his passing. Ed was preceeded in death by his wife Ova Lynn Martin Combs. Surviving are: 5 sons; Thomas (Judy) Combs of Letcher, Tony Combs of Isom, Barry (Rhonda) Combs of Jeremiah, John (Tina) Banks of Lancaster and Mark (Shanna) Banks of Isom; 2 daughters: Tane (Matt) Campbell of hallie and Bridgette (John) stacey of West Liberty; 3 brothers: Bennet Combs of Ice, Watson Combs of Louisville and Shade Jr Combs of Otisco, Indiana ; a sister; Liz Looney of Middletown, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services were held at letcher Funeral Home on tuesday November 21, 2006 at 11:00 am and conducted by Bufford Combs.

This obit appeared in today's Mesa AZ newspaper: Saturday, November 11, 2006 East Valley Tribune Mesa, Arizona Pete Combs Pete Combs, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away November 8, 2006. He is survived by his loving wife Mildred of 60 years, son David (Jacque), daughter Jessica (deceased) and 6 grandchildren. Stacy Dawn (Bob), Todd (Cindy), Stacy Lea (Chris), Leslie (Kris), Robert, Keri (Rudy) and 16 great grandchildren. One brother Lee, two sisters and one brother (deceased), mother Malinda (deceased), four nieces, Billy Joe, Linda, Caroline and Portia. He was born in Stormking, Kentucky, January 2, 1925. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army before moving to Mesa, Arizona in 1970. He worked for Maricopa County till he retired in 1987. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services will be held Monday, November 13, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Melcher Mortuary Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley Dr., Mesa, AZ. I am searchingg for a LON Doyle who came to Kentucky in 1921 to work in the mines with his family. Lon Doyle born about 1874 to 1877 Laurana Pennington Doyle Maggie Doyle who married Raymond Parker Edgar Doyle boy. Uley Doyle boy Estill Doyle boy They lived in Marion co tn 1900 and 1910 and 1920 in Hamilton Co, Tn. I can't find LON DOYLE ON THEY 1930 CENSUS AND HIS WIFE. Also James Edward(ed) Doyle was there with his family and Add Doyle came there too about this time. To work in the Mines. Lon has got to be somewhere there.
