According to my Letcher County Cemetery Book, Vol. 5, there is an Isom Riddle buried in the Green Acres Cemetery in Ermine. His birth and death dates are listed as Nov. 9, 1894, and Oct. 7, 1966, respectively. His wife, Victoria Riddle, is buried next to him and her dates are Jan. 16, 1899, and Aug. 22, 1975. Is this your Isom Riddle? I could not find a Pratt Cemetery listed in any of the 7 volumes of Letcher County Cemetery books, nor is there a Pratt Cemetery listed on my website (ie. at http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyletch/cemetery/records/index.htm ). However, cemeteries are quite often known by more than one name, depending on who you ask. Brian K. I hope that someone can help me. My GGgandfather Isom Riddle was buried in the Pratt Cemetary in Letcher County Kentucky. At one point I located a list of who was buried in that cemetary but since have been unable to locate the site again. At the time I found it I was not aware of what Isom Riddles first wife's name was and now I need to know if she was buried there with him in Letcher or if she died before he left Wise Virginia. I am trying to determine what her maiden name was. I know his second wife was Susanna Wilson but all that I have on his first wife and my grandmother is that her name was Sarah ?. If anyone could help me I would truly appreciate it. I am also hoping that if she is buried there perhaps it could be her families cemetary and I can research other interments and determine what her maiden name was. Jen

For those of you who have had family in Arizona, birth and death records are online at http://genealogy.az.gov/ The birth records cover 1887-192? (the last number is covered up, so I don't know what the exact year is) and the death records cover 1878-195? (same explanation as with the birth). This is a searchable database and it's not just the dates. It give the actual certificate in .pdf format. Example, I put in the name Shackelford and it came up with 28 matches. I now have a copy of the death certificate of Green Henry Shackelford, son of Abner Shackelford and Nancy Nickell. Pat

My research also shows that Henry and Rachael were Katies parents. My mother is Katie's grandaughter and she does remember that Katie's mother's name was Rachael. She is sure of that. She just didn't remember Katie mentioning her father. Brian, I took the obit you sent to my mother and she was thrilled to see it. She remembers the day Katie was killed. She used to work with Katie in the hotels in Whitesburg and surrounding areas but had to go back to school when Katie went to the new job. So Katie took one of my mother's friends Pansie Day with her. Pansie was also injured in this car wreck but did live. Again, thanks so much Teresa

In the 1900 Wise Co VA census Rachael R. Roberts is found as a 40 years old widow, mother of 10 with 6 living. Listed with her are James G. b. Aug 1890 (Jim in Katie's obit); Henry E. b. Jan 1893 (Ed in Katie's obit); Joseph C. b. June 1896 (Joe in Katie's obit). Katie married in Jan 1900 and is found in the 1900 Letcher Co KY census living next door to her in-laws, John L. and Easter Day. This would make Galen and Esther Kilgore Roberts her grandparents. Too bad we don't have a 1890 census or Katie's marriage record to settle this for sure. Again thanks for posting the obit. and your willingness to discuss this issue.
