    3. Looking for any information or connections to my line of Gipson/Gibsons that may be related to the Gibson/Gipson families in this area. My George Gibson was born in 1765 and was living in Louisa county VA at the time he was 15 and first entered the military. After that he shows up in Spartanburg SC and then in the Todd/ Christian county area of Western KY.He had a brother named Henry and the father listed for him was John. His wife was Abigail ? listed as being from SC. If anyone has information or ideas please let me know, any information on this line would be greatly appreciated. Also there is some type of mixing within our line, we suspect they may be of the Melungeon set but cannot seem to find out much about these folks. Thanks everybody Robin Holt Mccracken county KY --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Take Yahoo! Mail with you! Get it on your mobile phone.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FBB.2ACE/820.1.1 Message Board Post: Lynn, I am going to e-mail this to you, also. This has been a 20+ year search, trying to locate our grandparents gravesites. There was never a headstone installed, so the only thing that may be there to mark the sites are small, metal footmarkers. After 60 years, you can probably imagine the difficulty in finding those. This cemetery is so overgrown, there are trees growing in many of the graves. Cousins from four states met there in October, hoping beyond hope that we could find the sites. One cousin has found info that the cemetery is still owned by a coal company, who provided the land to the public for a cemetery. That company has, so far, refused to answer any inquiries about it. If your great aunt has any leads, no matter how small, we would be forever greatful.

    1. HARRIS DNA-Descendants of: Jacob & Jane/Jonea Kannaday/Harris, come forth and participate in the Harris DNA...
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Harris, Thomas, Vance, Bates, Hall, Caudill, Newsome, etc Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FBB.2ACE/843 Message Board Post: URGENT PLEA, AND REQUEST!!! "ALL MALE "HARRIS" DESCENDENTS FROM: JACOB & JANE KANNADAY/HARRIS, AND THAT OF: WILLIAM "BILL" HARRIS & MARY "POLLY" ANN VANCE/HARRIS, AND THIER SON'S DESCENDANTS OF: JOHN HARRIS & MARTHA "ELLEN SIS" THOMAS/HARRIS, AKA: VINEY ELLEN, TO COME FORTH AND BECOME A PARTICIPANT OF THE "HARRIS DNA"!!!! MOST URGENT AND MOST IMPORTANT THAT THESE DESCENDANTS DO THIS TO EVEN PROVE THAT THEY ARE "HARRIS" AT ALL, SO FAR LOOKS AS THOUGH THEY ARE NOT...DNA IS MOST IMPORTANT AND URGENT FOR THESE DESCENDANTS!! Jacob Harris, could've just been given the "Harris" name?? We need participants to do the DNA to see and establish the "Harris" Line of Jacob Harris, and to see if there will be other matches of this line, that is claimed to be "Harris!!" Anyway, on my: Jacob Harris, B.ca 1802, D.after the "1880" LAWRENCE COUNTY, KY., Census was taken, in which he stated that his parents were BORN IN: VIRGINIA! This Jacob Harris, Married: Jane/Jonea Canaday/Kannaday, (Jane Kannaday, listed on Marraige Certificate), Married: Aug. 28, 1827, in Wilkes Co. NC, in which Jacob Harris & Meredith PHILIPS, paid the Govenor (NC) 500 pounds current money. QUESTIONS??? Why was Jacob Harris in this Area??? Who was he living with??? Was he apart of the Harris Families in this NC Area??? How was Meredith Philips connected to: Jane Kannaday???? Jane Kannaday was Born: ca.1805 NC?? Was she a Daughter of: Meredith Philips??? Was she a Kannaday at all??? Here is the Trail of Jacob & Jane/Jonea Kannaday/Harris: "1830" PERRY COUNTY, KY--ONLY HARRIS FAMILY LISTED THERE, PERRY COUNTY, KY, LATER BECAME: LETCHER COUNTY, KY. "1840" PERRY/LETCHER COUNTY, KY "1850" LETCHER COUNTY, KY. "1858" LISTED ON TAX LIST/FLOYD CO.KY. "1860" FLOYD COUNTY, KY ***WHERE IS HE AT IN "1870"???? DISAPPEARED? CANNOT FIND HIM LISTED ANY WHERE IN THE U.S.!!** "1880" LAWRENCE COUNTY, KENTUCKY-BLAINE FALLS JACOB HARRIS (76YRS OLD) & JANE (74YRS OLD), ARE NEXT DOOR TO DAUGHTER & SON IN LAW: NANCY HARRIS/BENTLEY & WILLIAM BENTLEY. "1890" NO LISTING OF JACOB OR JANE HARRIS/HARAS, ANYWHERE IN U.S..... Now in the "1860" Floyd Co. Ky., Census there is a Son Listed: William Harris, 21yrs old, BORN: KENTUCKY, Occupation: Laborer, (B.ca1848KY), who we have believed to be William Harris who Married: Mary "Polly" Ann Vance, D/O John Wesley Vance & Martha Patsy Hall/Vance, and they resided in the KNOTT COUNTY, KY., area, where WILLIAM "BILL" HARRIS, owned, and farmed lands situated on Beaver Creek, untill his Death before: March 1881 Knott Co./Floyd Co. KY?? QUESTION: Was William "Bill" Harris the William Harris listed in Jacob & Jane Harris Home in the "1860" Floyd Co. Ky Census??? Also, this William Harris was supposidly a VERY LARGE LAND HOLDER in KNOTT COUNTY, KY., according to some family stories and beliefs, but when checking out Deeds, which I am aware of could be easily destroyed or have been moved out of the books in the court houses. Is this a Fact or is it Fiction?? William "Bill" Harris & Mary "Polly" Ann Vance/Harris, had several Children, prior to his short lived life, with one Son being: John Harris, B.Aug. 4, 1862 Knott/Floyd Co. KY; D.Aug. 4, 1934 Kite, Ky/Knott Co. KY, Mar: Martha Ellen Thomas, B.1871, D.aft Nov. 1913 Kite,KY/Knott Co. KY... Some of the Descendents of all the above lines are found in: West Virginia, Ohio, Ky/VA. Portsmouth, Ohio: Rachel Arminta Harris, B.1830 Letcher Co. KY, Died: 1941 Portsmouth, OHIO, Mar: Reubin D. Cornett. Rachel Arminta Harris D/O Jacob & Jane/Jonea aka: Virginia Jane Kannaday/Harris. Radnor, West Virginia/Wayne Co. West Virginia: Jemima "Mima" Harris, b.1842 Ky, D.1923 Radnor, WVA/Wayne Co. WVA. Mar: Benjamin Franklin Cornett, B.March 26, 1846 Lawrence Co. KY, D.Sept. 23, 1924 Radnor, WVA/Wayne Co. WVA. Jemima "Mima" Harris D/O Jacob & Jane/Jonea Kannaday/Harris. Any information on any of these lines would be greatly appreciated, and would love to see Documented proof especially that of: William "Bill" Harris!! Please do the DNA!!!! not only for my lines, but for all HARRIS MALES OF ALL HARRIS LINES TO DO THE DNA!! The Harris DNA web site has been updated and new pages created for this project. This site is still located at rootsweb freepages http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~harrisdna/ Sincerely, Marilyn Harris marileaf@bellsouth.net
