TN. I found the following about Robert Lee "Dall " Goins and Ruby Jewel Miller. Ruby was born in Rose Hill, Lee Co. VA. She was the daughter of Samuel Miller and Etta Mae Jones... Sorry there are no dates. Ruby was first married to a Mr. Wheeler and had two children by him and then had the three children you have listed, Chlorine, Alberta and Howard with Robert Lee Goins. Ruby was Robert Goin's third wife...his first wife was Docia Collins, and his second wife was also named Ruby. He had children with both of these wives as well...If you need any further information, email me and I will see what I have in this book....Hope this helps.. Marti

Riley and Margaret Combs, through their daughter Juda (Juddie), who is my g-grandma. Her name in actuality was Juda, not Judy, as listed in some places. I know that this is not an accurate way of making connections, but it may be a clue... Juda is such an odd name that it makes me wonder if we shouldn't rule out Isom Caudill and Juda Sumner as Margaret's parents so quickly. Just a thought. :) jess

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FBB.2ACE/863.1 Message Board Post: There are lists for sheriffs during that time but as far as I know there are no complete list of deputies during that time. From about 1910 up to and through the 1920's several deputies were killed or wounded due to bootlegging and then prohibition. If you check the fiscal court orders you may find mention of the person your checking on. It might mention if and when they were deputized. Sometimes it is mentioned there. If it is not mentioned there it doesn't mean the person was not deputized, only that it was not recorded in those court orders. These records are on microfilms. Also in the Mountain Eagle it mentions any killing or wounding of a deputy from time to time.
