I have found internet postings that state Adrian Metcalf married Barbara Hensley, daughter of Lewis Hensley and Nancy Howard. According to a book, A Study of Metcalfs, Andrew, & Smiths, by Clayton G. Metcalf, the above statement is accurate. But recently I located a web site entitled Martygrant.com, who claims extensive research regarding the family, there is no documentation verifying that Lewis and Nancy had a daughter by the name of Barbara Hensley. Can you assist me? Pat (Eslick) Ramsdell

If you or your cousins are male and carry the Minor, Miner last name--or should but don't due to past parental divorce or an adoption, I hope that you will participate in one of these studies. We personally believe this will be the only way we can figure out where our Minor, Miner ancestors came from, and how the various Minor, Miner family groups are interrelated. More information about the studies can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/minordnaproject/index.htm Please contact me Jim Carpenter by clicking on the email icon on each home page if you have questions about these studies.
I'm new to the list and I'm researching my great grandmother Catherine DUNCIL. She was in the 1920 census in Letcher County living with her daughter Millie Burgess (333) in Fleming. She died on April 25, 1935. She and her husband Stephen are buried at Mt. Caramel. I've not been able to find a death certificate for her. If anyone has any information on her, I'd sure appreciate it. Barbara in Michigan

This family may have come from Letcher or possibly Perry county. The name is spelled as Coddell and sometimes as Caudell. This family is probably not connected to the main family of mountain Caudills but its surname ended up as Caudill or Coddle because of the way their actual name sounded. I've been able to trace back to a John Coddle born around 1820, but I have not been able to find out who his parent were. I have an idea of their background, which is very unusual, but i haven't found any mention of them. Have you ever come across anything about this family.
