I live in Dallas and have made trips to Osage City and Topeka to do research on my wife's families. The Campbells, Crocketts, Hanks, and Orendorfs of Osage City and Emporia. Definitely a connection between the Campbells in Osage City and the Campbells in Emporia. One of her cousins : Harrison Campbell was born: 1879 /1880 in Osage City after the families all arrived in 1879 in Osage during the BLACK EXODUS from the South, (Mississippi). Harrison Campbell in Osage disappeared after his mother died in 1887. I have her obit fromOsage paper. If the parents names and Harrison Campbell of Emporia birthday is right, I think he was named for the Harrison in Osage. Then maybe he was really adopted by James L.Campbell in Emporia. A lot of questions surrounding The two or one in the same man. Were they just cousins. Harrison in Osage was born to: Camelia and William Campbell. I tracked William to Strong City , Kansas where he died in early 1920's. Never a mention of his kids! : Harrison Lloyd, and Lona..I have Harrison's deatn Certificate, Marriage License, and a lot of newspaper articles surrounding his wife's and other relatives deaths, like the Orendorfs. My wife's great, great Aunt, Sue (Hanks) Orendorf of Osage and Emporia, married Ralph Orendorf. I have a lot of that familie's obits and pictures as well. If you can shed any light on your great grandfather and his father, pls email me or call me or send me your phone number and I'll call you. The Campbells and Crocketts might have all met up at Osage during the Exodus from the South. I called a 89 year old Orendorf decendent in Colorado a few weeks ago. She only new a couple of the Campbells...Hope I have not confused you too much..Take care. Bob. Dallas
