TURNER in your query. I wish I had known about your inquiry earlier. I was in this very area on June 25, 2002, but did not know where the cemtery was. I am not certain if my John L. TURNER and his wife Louise "Elizabeth" HENSLEY TURNER are the same as your John L. TURNER and "Eliza" - but I would like to hear from you if you think there is a connection. Even though one email says that my Elizabeth TURNER is buried in the Black Joe Cemetery in Harlan County, I went there, and there were no TURNER names to bfound on any stone - the cemetery is extremely overgrown and has nests of ground hornets - as I discovered when I stepped on a nest of them. Got stung many times - so caution if you visit there. Would you be able to take a photograph of the grave stones at the Wooton cemetery? The following is all the info I have on my John L. TURNER. The information that Louise HENSLEY was a daughter of Andrew HENSLEY was provided by Silas Asher HENSLEY in the 1948 interview with Mossetta PENNINGTON FRITTS. At age 17 Louise married John L. TURNER, b. 1833 KY, age 25, on 1/14/1858 in Harlan Co., KY. The Harlan Co. Marriage Book A, Page 92 reveals they were married by Wilkerson HOWARD, J. P., place of marriage “at Andrew HENSLEY’s, Harlan Co., KY”; Witneses: Andrew HENSLEY and Louis and Andy HOWARD. Email from Harvey L. TURNER, Error! Bookmark not defined., 5109 Birch Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28304: “I believe Louise HENSLEY was b. about 1836, d. about 1870. As told she is buried in the Black Joe Cemetery on Hwy 38 between Evarts and Harlan. I have not been able to locate her grave at that site. There are lots of worn down markers that can’t be read. John remarried unknown, and had five more children.” Email from Harvey L. TURNER 12/10/1998: “Hi Sherry- Yes you are right. My grandfather is Loyd Turner. In the 1900 Perry County census, John was living with his son, Anderson Babe Turner and family. Census T-623 roll #548 Hazard #5, house #346. In 1910 John was living with his son, Wilse Turner and family in Sassafras, Perry County. Census T-624 roll #500 Hazard #10, house #50. Reference #page 62-11-A-451. I have not found any record of John's where-abouts after 1910. There is nothing listed with Ky death index. I have been searching for him the past 7 years. I am looking for info on Louise Hensley. I have her being born about 1836, d. about 1870. As told she is buried in the Black Joe Cemetery on Hwy 38 between Evarts and Harlan. I have not been able to locate her grave at that site.
