She was born March 12, 1910, to the late Cora Vanover Gayhart. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Wooten, Ky. She was a graduate of the Berea Academy in Berea, Ky., and an accomplished seamstress, weaver, quilter, and cross-stitcher. Survivors include one son, John Nelson Maggard; three daughters, Beth Maggard, Carol (and Roger) Calder, and Modeana (and James) Loveless, all of Somerset; a brother, James Gayhart, Lawrenceburg, Ky.; a sister, Marie Huggins, Hixson, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Melanie (and Tim) Diamond, Jan (and Dale) Randall, Sharon Dodson, and Jenna (and Vic) Minton; and eight great-grandchildren, Angela (and Daniel) Epperson, Michael Dodson, Ashley Diamond, Adam Diamond, Storm Minton, Skyler Minton, Ethan Randall, and Spencer Randall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl Maggard, whom she married on Aug. 4, 1936 in Hazard, Ky.; her parents; a brother, Edward Gayhart; a sister, Ruth Gayhart; a grandson, Jeffery Calder; and a great-granddaughter, Heidi Randall. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, with Bro. Sam Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset. Visitation will be held today after 5 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
