In testimony where of I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal The day and date written above. Samuel Hord {seal} > > > Because of the recent KY Derby and horses reaching for the attempt of a 2007 Triple Crown a Song was sung on National TV named "Maryland My Maryland" which among the words make reference to HOWARD. I made an inquiry of Maryland Genealogical Historical Organizations to name whom the individual is honored. As many of us do everyday, I learned the following, but at this point, do NOT have any genealogy of this individual that would indicate any relationship to our SAMUEL HOWARD of KY and Chloe Osborne. For your information: The "Howard" reference in the song "Maryland My Maryland" is to John Eager Howard, commander of the Maryland Line at the Battle of Cowpens in S. C. during the Rev. War. His troops are credited with turning the tide of that battle and as a result the entire Southern Campaign of the war. > The fact that General & Senator Daniel Howard of the Rev. War has many descents in Kentucky and the HOWARD of Maryland Fame, were close military friends, it may be possible, that there was a link of genealogy among the Maryland HOWARD and the KY HOWARD lineage that has not been made apparent to researchers within the Rootsweb submissions.
