List Dad, JOHN in CA > > > 7-13-2008: From Urban Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville, Indiana > David Roberts age 81 of the Everton Community passed away Sunday July 13, 2008 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born August 11, 1926 in Owsley County, KY the son of the late Elihue and Lydia Reed Roberts. > He has resided in the Connersville and Everton area since 1952. He is a charter member and deacon of the Blooming Grove Family Worship Center. David served in the U.S. Army during WW II as a medic in the Phillipines. He is a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He farmed all of his life in addition to working for several years at Rex. Manufacturing and D & M until retirement. He was an outdoorsman and a hunter. He was married for over 60 years to Bertha Gabbard Roberts to whom he was married on March 27, 1948 in Booneville, KY. > He is also survived by 4 daughters, Sandra & Jeff Detmer, Osgood, IN; Patricia & Ricky Rowe, Connersville; Teresa & Tony Horning, Clinton Township, MI; Carol Roberts and companion David Wells, Connersville; > 3 sons, Charles E. & Juanita Roberts, Blooming Grove, IN; Ronald G. & Darlena Roberts, Connersville; David A. Roberts and companion Jean Robinette, Connersville; 2 brothers Roy & Annamae Roberts, Connersville; Chester & Wanda Roberts, Connersville; > 4 sisters, Hattie Bowling, Connersville; Myrtle & Orville Estes, Connersville; Alma Baker, Booneville, KY; Norma & Buck Thomas, Booneville, KY; 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. > In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Elmer and Cecil Roberts and 2 sisters Bessie Hornsby and Bertie Bowling. > Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday 16th July, 2008, at the Blooming Grove Family Worship Center with Rev. Tom Marshall and Rev. Wayne Ison officiating. Burial will be in Everton Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Color Guard. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at the church and for one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society. > (Included picture).
