Asher was born on December 27, 1929, passed away on April 7, 2009 at the age of 79 years, 3 months & 11 days. Vetch was born at Hyden, KY., the son of the late Lawrence Asher & Polka Bowling Asher. Vetch was a life-long resident of Leslie Co. By occupation Vetch was a retired coal miner (shuttle-car driver), Vetch B. Asher was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict,(Purple Heart Recipient - sharp shooter), He was also a member of the Hyden Masonic Lodge # 664, and a member of the Leslie Co. DAV Chapter # 133, Vetch B. Asher had been a member of the Wooton Presbyterian Church at Wooton, KY. for 65 years, and a former Little League Coach. Vetch enjoyed being involved in the lives of his children & grandchildren , including fishing, fox hunting & gardening. Vetch B. Asher was preceded in death by His Parents: Lawrence & Polka Asher, Brothers: Woodrow, Edward, George & wife Norma Jean & his Sister: Millie Asher He leaves the following relatives surviving: His Wife: Hattie Coots Asher of Wooton, KY., 1 Son: Denton D. Asher & Sonya of Wooton, KY., 1 Daughter: Mildred Maxine Asher of Wooton, KY., 2 Grandchildren: Kayla Renee Asher of Wooton, KY. & Matthew Dwayne Asher of Wooton, KY., 2 Brothers: Jeffery Cornelius "Spyder" Asher & Norma Jean of Wooton, KY. & Roderick Asher & Anna Lee of Keavy, KY., 1 Sister: Mildred Howard & Leihman of London, KY. & Special Friends: Robert Wells & Cecil Dixon. Funeral Service for Vetch B. Asher conducted on Friday, April 10, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wooton Presbyterian Church at Wooton, KY., with Rev. Merle Caudill & Rev. Greg Whitaker officiating. Burial in the Owl's Nest Cemetery at Hyden, KY. with Military Rites of Leslie Co. DAV Chapter # 133. Visitation held on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Hyden, Leslie County, Kentucky.
