Clemmie Joseph Mr. Sylvan Hayes Gross born December 25, 1943 KY departed this life on Feb. 6, 2009 at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 26 days old. He was born at Yeaddiss, Kentucky the son of the late Willard Gross and the late Geneva Jackson Gross. By occupation he was a retired coal miner and had been employed by Blue Diamond Coal Co. at Leatherwood, KY. Sylvan was a member of the Southern Labor Union and he enjoyed fishing, visiting the sick and also his many friends. Mr. Sylvan Hayes Gross was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ and enjoyed going to church and spending time with his family. He was a U. S Navy Veteran and served during peacetime. He was preceded in death by his parents: Willard & Geneva Jackson Gross, daughter: Linda Gail Gross, brother: Henry Gross, sisters: Christine Gross Staples & Wanda Gross Grigsby, nephew: Brian Eugene Lewis, son-in-law: Ronnie Clyde Farmer. Mr. Sylvan Hayes Gross is survived by: wife: Ula Mae Gross of Smilax, KY, son: Charles Eugene "Buck" Gross & Kimberly, of Wooton, KY, is survived by: daughters: Bonnie Jean Gross of Smilax, KY, Lisa Ann Farmer of Stinnett, KY, Theresa Wells & Cletis, Jr. of Smilax, KY, Tina Coots & Rickie of Yeaddiss, KY, and Tammy Gross of Smilax, KY, Brothers: Denton Gross & Sharon of Yeaddiss, KY, Willard Jr. Gross & Julie of Yeaddiss, KY, Johnny Gross & wife, Vicky of Yeaddiss, KY. Sisters: Mae Myers of Greensboro, NC, Delphia Jean Gross of Phoenix, AZ, Lexine Lewis & Eugene of Dayton, OH, grandchildren: Ronnie Preston Farmer, Charles Brandon Gross, Jordan Dakota Wells, Tyler Dean Combs and Savannah Nicole Farmer. Also survived by two girls he viewed as his own: Ethel Turner & Kay Lewis, one boy he viewed as his grandson: Austin Turner, and his special friends: Felix & Elva Lewis, Bruce Vance, Pamela Hacker, Joe Shepherd and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Sylvan Hayes Gross held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday- February 10, 2009 at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, KY with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis, Rev. Don Kilburn, Rev. Willie Wagers and Rev. Clemmie Joseph officiating. Burial follow in the "Sylvan Gross Memorial Cemetery " at Smilax, KY. Full Military rites performed by the Leslie Co. D.A.V. Chapter # 133.
