He was born at Mill Branch (Kaliopi), Kentucky the son of the late John Sandlin and the late Hallie Wooton Sandlin. By occupation he was a retired coal miner and construction worker, and had been a lifelong resident of Leslie County, Kentucky. Mr. Russell Sandlin was a member of the Hyden Church of God and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents: John & Hallie Sandlin; Wife: Rose; one brother: John Jr. Sandlin; and by one sister: Lucinda. He leaves surviving the following relatives: two sons; Larry Sandlin & Louise of Hyden, KY, Ricky Sandlin & Laura of Wooton, KY; one daughter: Joyce Ann Sizemore & Greg of Hyden, KY; two brothers: Charlie Sandlin of Springfield, OH, Philmore Sandlin of Asher, KY; one sister: Juanita Sandlin Cornett of Middletown, OH; four grandchildren: Valerie, Jeff, Justin and David; two great grandchildren: Andy & Jocelyn. Mr. Russell Sandlin is also survived by a host of other treasured relatives and friends. Funeral service for Mr. Russell Sandlin held at 1:00 p.m. -Sunday - May 10, 2009 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel at Hyden, Kentucky with Rev. Wayne Bowling, Danny Day and Paul Baker officiating. Burial in the Jones Family Cemetery at Dryhill, Kentucky.
