Yes, The John Jay Dickey Diary - Microfilm Reel #3 - Transcription, is in a publication. It Covers 1895 - 1898 diary pages of Rev. John J. Dickey who lived among the families of Clay, Leslie, Perry, Breathitt, Laurel and Harlan Counties. This "Transcription" can be found using your computer at: > _http://users.adelphia.net/~jdbpubs/orderdiary.htm_ (http://users.adelphia.net/~jdbpubs/orderdiary.htm) > > > Yes, the diary is available on Microfilm Rolls at many library locations in the USA for you to see and read and transcribe. May I remind you, that not all statements in the diary are proven as truthful accurate genealogy as originally written, and has been the subject of many discussions on Rootsweb mail lists, in the past years. I encourage anyone looking for insight into the hardships and then living conditions of the mountain families, to consider reading many of the diary pages by Rev. John Jay Dickey a man raised in the Lexington Kentucky area and dedicated his life to religion in the mountains of Kentucky. His diary is often quoted in genealogy, and another source for a special family of Clay County, can be seen at this location: > _http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyclay2/chronology/dgarrard.html_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyclay2/chronology/dgarrard.html) > Kentucky's first two term Governor, James Garrard and wife Elizabeth Mountjoy, and their family owned lands and lived in Clay County. Many of their relatives of today were born and raised in Leslie County. Hope this helps our newest list members.
