    1. [KYLESLIE] Correction of surname data
    2. Recently in my post I made a classical typo error of a surname. I wish to correct my typed post in the following paragraph. INCORRECT PARAGRAPH: Quote: The fact that General & Senator Daniel Howard of the Rev. War has many descents in Kentucky and the HOWARD of Maryland Fame, were close military friends, it may be possible, that there was a link of genealogy among the Maryland HOWARD and the KY HOWARD lineage that has not been made apparent to researchers within the Rootsweb submissions. CORRECTION: The fact that General & Senator Daniel MORGAN of the Rev. War whom has many descents in Kentucky, and the JOHN EDGAR HOWARD of Maryland Fame, were close military friends, it may be possible, that there was a link of genealogy among the Maryland HOWARD and the KY HOWARD lineage that has not been made apparent to researchers within the Rootsweb submissions. I apologize to all for my original error , please correct my post. In addition, I learned John Edgar Howard, has two sons, both who are Rev. War participants of Maryland with history for USA, and have descents. LISTDAD, JOHN in CA > PLEASE remember to Support all our Paralyzed Military Veterans of America. 1. [KYLESLIE] Samuel Howard 1762 VA & John Edgar Howard 1752 Baltimore, Maryland
    2. HOWARD surname is among many of our Leslie County, Kentucky ancestors and descents. Harlan County began the migrations and marriages that followed. To start this discussion I will list from our late Cousin and Genealogist William G. O'Connor 1930 - April 12, 2002 > > Capt. Samuel Howard 1762 Buckingham Co, VA-1840 Harlan Co, KY., md Chloe Osborne. Samuel served for 7 years during the Am. Rev. Samuel was among the first settlers in Harlan Co., KY. Samuel Howard had a sister Rebecca Howard 1751 who md Jesse Brock 1751VA- 1843 Harlan Co, KY, s/o Aaron Brock . The ten (10) children of Capt. Samuel Howard & Chloe Osborne were per: Harlan County Court records, Book A, page 25: > This Indenture made this 27th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty between Samuel Hord Sr of the county of Harlan and state of Kentucky of the one part and John Hord, Andrew Hord, Adron Hord, Samuiel Hord Jr, Wilkerson Hord and Dredd Hord, Sarah Napier and Elizabeth Napier all of the county of Harlan and State aforesaid and Mary Hensley the wife of Henry Hensley and Nancy Hensley the wife of Lewis Hensley of the county of Buncum and State of North Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth that Samuel Hord Sr for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge doth here by bargain, sell alien and confirm unto John Hord, Andrew Hord, Adron Hord, Samuel Hord Jr, Wilkerson Hord and Nancy Hensley, jointly and severly their heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land, situate lying and being in the county of Harlan on the most Northeast side of Martins fork of Cumberland River containing one half acre of land leaving a certain lick or any other prospect within the original survey of 150 acres prospect for salt in the center of a square. In testimony where of I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal The day and date written above. Samuel Hord {seal} > > > Because of the recent KY Derby and horses reaching for the attempt of a 2007 Triple Crown a Song was sung on National TV named "Maryland My Maryland" which among the words make reference to HOWARD. I made an inquiry of Maryland Genealogical Historical Organizations to name whom the individual is honored. As many of us do everyday, I learned the following, but at this point, do NOT have any genealogy of this individual that would indicate any relationship to our SAMUEL HOWARD of KY and Chloe Osborne. For your information: The "Howard" reference in the song "Maryland My Maryland" is to John Eager Howard, commander of the Maryland Line at the Battle of Cowpens in S. C. during the Rev. War. His troops are credited with turning the tide of that battle and as a result the entire Southern Campaign of the war. > The fact that General & Senator Daniel Howard of the Rev. War has many descents in Kentucky and the HOWARD of Maryland Fame, were close military friends, it may be possible, that there was a link of genealogy among the Maryland HOWARD and the KY HOWARD lineage that has not been made apparent to researchers within the Rootsweb submissions. 2. Request for BAKER DNA volunteers I am passing a message made back in February 2007, by BAKER descents wanting to encourage more proven descents. This is of great interest to our Leslie County BAKER descents and especially in the LEWIS & CAMPBELL & COUCH lineage's. On lands of Leslie County as it exists today and since 1878, there are BAKER descents from TWO major BAKER lines. One is known as Capt. John Baker who was later beheaded by two slaves while he slept, in his home in those days of Perry County land. The other Capt. John Renty / Renta / Baker a famous longhunter pioneer into KY and TN lands. Both these CAPT. JOHN BAKER were Rev. War Veterans. CAPT. John Baker who died of Perry Co., Ky NC md. His first wife: on 4 May 1789, in LEE Co., VA, SARAH ALPHA b. 1778 (I/2 Indian bloodline). Sarah bore two male children to John but died giving birth to #2 WILSON Baker. Capt. 1. Re: [KYLESLIE] Lellie BEGLY PENNINGTON & Fredora PENNINGTON LAY Lay
    2. RESPONSE: The reason I did not locate her is because I missed her married name. It is ALWAYS a good idea to put all surnames in CAPITAL letters. Here is her death record info: LAY, Fredora P. lived and died in Laurel Co., KY on 1-22-1982 at the age of 71 years - Vol. 003, Cert 01225 Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA In a message dated 5/3/2007 10:37:26 AM Pacific Daylight Time, ancestorhunt@sbcglobal.net writes: > Fredora Pennington Lay, was an attorney in Leslie.
