    1. [KYLESLIE] Hubert Brad Lewis aka Hubert X. Lewis
    2. Perhaps this individual of claimed birth at Yeaddiss in Leslie County on 7 December 1932, is only an error in KY Birth Records and now available to all to see at: . _http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyleslie/LeslieBirths1931_40.txt_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyleslie/LeslieBirths1931_40.txt) Is there anyone that can share the parents and grandparents of this individual Hubert Brad Lewis? He has a Biography presented on several website's: > _http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0507272/#self_ (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0507272/#self) > _http://www.sweetslyrics.com/Hugh%20X.%20Lewis.html_ (http://www.sweetslyrics.com/Hugh%20X.%20Lewis.html) > _http://www.lpdiscography.com/l/Hugh/hugh.htm_ (http://www.lpdiscography.com/l/Hugh/hugh.htm) It appears from these sources that this Leslie County man has had an extraordinary accomplishments in the Music Industry with an appearance or two in the Film Industry. Strange his birth is missing from Leslie County Records at the State Level. 1. [KYLESLIE] HUFF & CAMPBELL
    2. Folks, this is a mystery at present in research. Descents in MO are as stumbled as I am. In my data of HUFF and CAMPBELL lineages, as well as the data of the late Col. Wm G. O'Conner Dozens of Cousins, there is no mention of any WILLIAM HUFF born 1799 in KY. His wife "Matilda Emily Campbell" may be a descent born in Central KY or around Cumberland County, Kentucky. When the US Census was taken in 1859 and 1860 the WILLIAM HUFF born in KY was still alive. In the 1870 Census only wife Emily (Matilda Emily Campbell-Huff) was still alive. The question is: Is there any HUFF or CAMPBELL researchers that may have knowledge of this WILLIAM Huff 1799 birth. In the early Pioneer days of Kentucky there are few, very few persons born with name of WILLIAM HUFF. Yet, back to the 1650s and even today, many HUFF descents were born with the middle name of William. Here are the census records showing such person existed: > The "Emily" is middle name of Matilda Emily Campbell who claims KY birth. > > > 1850 United States Federal Census > Missouri > Morgan > Buffalo>3 Dec 1850> by C H Huff 676-676 William Huff 51 M Farmer KY ++++++ Emily 50 F KY wife Samantha 17 F KY Matilda 16 F KY daughter Vienna 14 F KY Emily 11 F KY daughter George Perry 9 M MO ---------------------------------------------------------- 1860 Census > Missouri > Morgan > Moreau>Versailles PO>17 Aug 1860>by A W Anthony> Page 149 1060-1014 William Huff 61 M Farmer $300 $400 MO Emily Huff 60 F MO Samantha Huff 27 F MO Matilda Huff 24 F MO Perry Huff 19 M MO Pleasant Huff 12 M MO Mary Huff 10 M MO ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------- 1870 Census > Missouri >Morgan >Moreau>Versailles PO>4 Jul 1870> by Rufus B Snyder>Page 20-21 161-161 Emily Huff 70 F W Keep house $400 - $390 KY Samantha 36 F W KY James 50 M W Farmer $4000 $1460 KY Polly 49 F W Keep house TN John 20 M W Farmer MO William 16 M W Farm labor MO++++++ Thomas 11 M W Farm labor MO George 9 M W MO Tildy 8 M W MO Perry 6 M W MO ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------- Any help is appreciated, if within your data. > > > LISTDAD JOHN in CA **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. 1. [KYLESLIE] LESLIE COUNTY LEWIS & DNA projects
    2. _http://lewissurnamednaproject.com/test_results.htm_ (http://lewissurnamednaproject.com/test_results.htm) Those who have been asking about DNA projects, such as the LEWIS project, can see the results posted, which do not include everyone who tested todate, and you can see many above site. The Leslie County LEWIS descents should consider both their Father and their Mother mtDNA, when deciding to prove their ancestors. The most important for each Testee, is the HAPLO group your DNA is determined to be. That gives you much history about your ancestor origination on the earth. Hope this helps those asking more info, and yes, I have completed the 37 marker test. There are many projects such as WALES and NORDIC, etc. that are derivatives under the LEWIS DNA projects. There are BAKER, BAILEY, COMBS, BOLLING, BOWLING, MORGAN, and new DNA projects ongoing as we speak. I can state that my father was a SULLIVAN, my MOTHER a LEWIS. Her MOTHER an ENGLAND. We were all born in Leslie County, KY LISTDAD JOHN in CA ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

    1. [KYLESLIE] BERTHA FRY 1893-2007 OBIT to remember
    2. Source: _http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071115/LOCAL/711150547/0/RSS_ (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071115/LOCAL/711150547/0/RSS) > MUNCIE, INDIANA-- Bertha could no longer see or hear well, but "supercentenarian" Bertha Fry remained mentally sharp until the end. Pneumonia was the cause of her death. Fry is survived by her daughter and son, Wayne Gray of Martinsville, Indiana; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Bertha Fry, 113, was the world's third-oldest documented person. She died Wednesday 14 November 2007 at Ball Memorial Hospital. "I'd say her very good mind," Fry's daughter, Muncie Indiana resident Barbara Money, said when asked what she will remember about her mother. "She knew up until the very end what was going on. She knew her children and was still asking how are the grandchildren. It's remarkable she kept her mind sharp all those years." "People think someone at that age no longer enjoys life, but she did," said Judi Harris, marketing director at Westminster Village retirement community, where Fry had lived since 1979. Highlights of Fry's last year of life included meeting Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and Grammy Award-winning violinist Hilary Hahn. Hahn performed at Westminster while visiting her grandfather. Fry didn't attend because she couldn't hear. When the staff asked Hahn if she needed anything, she said she would very much like to meet Bertha Fry. The two sat together in the lounge. Fry was born in Switzerland County in 1893 (the same year actress Mae West was born), attended Hanover College, taught in a one-room school house in southern Indiana and lived in Indianapolis before moving to Muncie to be in the same town as her daughter. Fry lived independently until she fell and broke her wrist this past Fourth of July, when she moved to Westminster's health center. Until then, she walked to the dining room three times a day, attended exercise classes and climbed the stairs to the second-story laundry room. She didn't like the elevator. "We were worried about her taking the stairs," Harris recalled. "We really didn't want her to continue doing that." Indiana also claims the world oldest person. Edna Parker , 114, lives in a Shelbyville, Indiana nursing home. Fry and Parker met in April and set a _Guinness World Record_ (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071115/LOCAL/711150547/0/RSS#) for the highest aggregate age (227 years) of two people in a gathering. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

    2. My niece sent me this message, which seems pertinent. Might save some of us disappointment if the card is returned: My daughter made some cards and we sent them there last year. I didn't let her put our return address on them. We simply put... [child's first name only] plus: American Heritage Girl Troop (Oklahoma) Some of the other ladies at church sent some, including their address on the envelope. They were returned to them, with a statement... due to security reasons, they could not be delivered to the soldiers. If you have a specific soldier's name to address it to, they can deliver it, but if not, then leave out your return address information. ----- Original Message ----- From: <RLTJPS@aol.com> To: <BOWLING@rootsweb.com>; <KYLESLIE@rootsweb.com>; <SIDEBOTTOM@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 03, 2007 9:44 AM Subject: [BOWLING] (no subject) >A Great Idea!!! 1. [KYLESLIE] DNA testing & WELSH / NORMAN ancestry, et al
    2. As the List Host, I am forwarding a message about what the LEWIS DNA project will not tell you. A LEWIS list member asked about this, and our list members do have opinions, here was the Question and the Response. JOHN in CA > > > SUBJECT: DNA testing & WELSH / NORMAN ancestry, et al But , could you answer my question? Will it establish my racial background, as "genetic testing" has shown the Welsh are racially distinct from the Normans, so will it establish that? I am the last of my line - the other members of my Grandfather's family are unaccounted for, anywhere. I have nothing to compare to it except corpses I'd have to get a court order to dig up. And that would cost way too much. :-) > > > No, it will not show if your line is Welsh. However as previously noted Normans were *usually* R1a or I haplogroup. There are existing deep ancestry projects, separating out Anglo-Saxon, Scots, Irish, Welsh, etc. Even outlying areas such as the Shetland Island. The more isolated the area, the better the success. But our ancestors moved around a lot. England was a melting pot from many invasions and migrations. Plus a great deal of back and forth travel between Ireland and Scotland. And they had their own problems with invaders. I had my husband tested 4 years ago and I still haven't figured out where his R1b came from. 1. Re: [KYLESLIE] DNA for LEWIS descents who volunteer of LESLIE Co., KY
    2. I have a female line to James and Elizabeth Joseph Lewis in Leslie/Clay Co.? Will this work?? I am having trouble finding a male line. nancy -----Original Message----- From: RLTJPS@aol.com To: KYLESLIE@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, 24 Oct 2007 12:15 pm Subject: [KYLESLIE] DNA for LEWIS descents who volunteer of LESLIE Co., KY Paternity DNA tests are a special kind of autogenous test. Y chromosome tests are of a gene that is passed down from father to son indefinitely. Yes, tiny mutations occur, but on average only every few hundred years. This is a special kind of gene and that is why it was chosen for surname tracing. Or biological paternal lineage testing, if you prefer, because surnames change and Y chromosomes stay the same. FEMALES: For the same reason, the non-coding portion of the mitochodria was chosen to trace maternal lineage. mtDNA is a very different type of gene whose function is quite different. But it stays the same, does not combine and does not mutate but every 10,000 years. A woman passes this gene on intact to all her children, but only her daughters will be able to pass it on to their children. DNA sample from a female descendant of the grandmother, shows your DNA question could be answered. But it must be a female line of descent all the way. A Male giving the mtDNA sample can be male because he would have *received* his mother's mtDNA. He can't pass it on, but he is still carrying it. Her mtDNA can then be compared in many databases of ancestors. These LEWIS descents of the following Kentucky Counties are very much in need of male DNA volunteers: Bell, Clay, Leslie, Breathitt, Perry, Harlan, Laurel counties. 1. [KYLESLIE] DNA for LEWIS descents who volunteer of LESLIE Co., KY
    2. Paternity DNA tests are a special kind of autogenous test.
