Zora Helen Gibson Huff, Age 80 of Hamilton, OH passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on April 8, 2008. She was born in Jackson County, KY on May 17, 1927 the daughter of Coltz and Laura (Angel) Gibson. Helen was employed at Miami University for 17 years, retiring in 1987. She was a lifetime member of the DAV in Middletown. On November 5, 1953 in Brookville, IN (Union Co.) she married Sherman Huff of KY, and he preceded her in death in 2005. She is survived by a son, James Edward (Donna) Huff of Hamilton, OH; three grandchildren, Cassandra, Jesse, and Cole; Four brothers, Richard (Gladys) Gibson, Arvel (Gloria) Gibson, Troy (Sharon) Gibson, all of Hamilton, Ohio, and Raymond (Ruby) Gibson of Wyandotte, MI; and numerous other relatives and friends. Zola was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Johnny B. Gibson; and four sisters, Josie Satterfield, Nicey Mae Harris, Nancy Schwartz, and Barbara Deering. Funeral service will be held at the Butler County Ohio Memorial Park Chapel, on April 14, 2008 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Roger Shaw of New Miami Wesleyan Church officiating. Items you will see and read about include: Powhatan's Mantle Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, England This item is constructed of four deerskins measuring a total of 7ft. 8 1/2 in. x 5ft. 3in. The embroidery is constructed of sewn Marginella shells in several configurations. There are 34 disc shapes surrounding two animals and one central human figure. The animals appear to be that of a cougar and a deer. The top of the piece has a V-shaped opening, but it is supposed by scholars that this item was not worn, but rather hung in a temple or palatial interior. Documented by at least year 1634. Clemmie Joseph Joseph Lawrence Jr. born Oct. 22, 1944 departed this life on April 3, 2008 at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 12 days old. He was born at Yeaddiss, Kentucky the son of late Giles Joseph and Martha Griffith Maggard. By occupation Lawrence was a disabled coal miner and had been a resident of Letcher County for the past 20 years, residing at Jenkins, Kentucky. This is Orlena Langdon Hart Bowling. D/O John Sawyer Langdon and Jane Warren. 1st husband was Alonzo? Hart. 2nd husband was Justice Tucker Bowling. Not sure where she's buried. If in the Langdon Family Cemetery at Mosley Bend which I would assume since she was living near there, her grave is not marked or the headstone is unreadable.
