Since there was only one MILLER person listed and no STACY families, I took another look at your query. I still don't know where these folks are from but you mention children born in Troublesome. I often don't know all the little towns or communities but when I think of Troublesome, I think of Troublesome Creek and that is "Perry Co." and not Leslie Co. So, you may be in the wrong county with your posting. On the 1910 Leslie, however, there is one Robert MILLER as follows in Big Creek as follows: Dwelling 135-45 COUCH, Jesse, 79, husband, mar. 1, mar. 58 yrs, b. KY; parents b. KY . .Rachael, 77, wife, mar. 1, mar. 58 yrs, 9 born; 8 living, b. KY MILLER, Robert, 17, "grandson", single, b. KY; parents b. KY * * * >From the KBI Cd's: MILLER, Henry b. 9-8-1914 in Perry Co. MILLER, Daniel b. 10-8-1916 MILLER, Leslie b. 5-8-1912 MILLER, William b. 12-8-1919 NOTE: All these children were born in Perry Co.; and their mother was listed in all cases as: America STACY Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA

I came across this in an old publication titled, "Scotch-Irish Chronicles" and thought those who trace back to the Powells and Barnetts might be interested. I'm still looking for my gg grandmother, NANCY POWELL, who was born ca 1850 or so, married Theophilus Brock, and had one child, Mahala Brock, born 1878. Nancy either died in childbirth or shortly thereafter. If anyone is researching the Powells and who might know something about my elusive Nancy, I'd love to hear from you. Diane R. Hi, I noticed your posting below. I think that your G Grandma Mary Jane Muncy is a relative of mine. Mary Jane's father, John Muncy, would be a GGG Uncle of mine. Do you know much about your Muncy ancestors? I would love comparing notes with you. John In a message dated 8/18/2003 1:41:29 PM Pacific Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: > Hi Richard. For instances, Leslie County was only established in 1878 from Harlan, Clay and Perry County. They (Leslie County Library and County court clerk) have the US Census from 1880 on. Depending on what part of Leslie County your decendents lived in, you might try one of these counties. Hope this helps...

Here are their birth records from the State of KY: OLIVER, Gladis b. 7-27-1924 in Leslie Co., KY; Vol. 075, Cert 37294; maiden name of mother: Cora CALWELL OLIVER, Pauline b. 9-16-1925 in Leslie Co., KY; Vol. 096; Cert 47509 If you do not know the name of their father, then I would suggest you order their birth records from the St. of KY. As for the 1920 Leslie Co., I do not see an unmarried Cora COLDWELL/CALWELL/COLWELL, CALDWELL, etc. listed. That could mean she was not in Leslie or it could mean she was married to someone else already and later married the OLIVER male. I can tell you that I've been unable to locate either Pauline or Gladys OLIVER on the 1930 Fed. Census in KY. I also cannot locate Cora. That could mean they have left the state. Or, . . it also could mean Cora has remarried and the two girls are listed under the surname of her new husband. If you have any additional information such as another husband's surname or who either of these two girls married or if they stayed in KY, then I could possibly locate more. Unfortunately, there are a number of Cora's and no way for me to know which, if any, are correct. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA
