She was a wealth of information for my family from the time we met her in the late 60's/early '70s until she passed away. Just wanted to say what a wonderful person Dove was and give her so much credit and praise for being willing to share all the information that she knew. It is also because of her that I now have a large framed portrait of my g-grandfather - Jesse Marion Chaffin - hanging in my living room. Her father was Jesse Marion's next oldest brother and the 2 boys - James Milton Chaffin Jr. and Jesse Marion were really, really close. My g-grandfather died young -he was just 26, had been married 2 years to Clementine 'Tina' Adkins and their son - Jesse Hubert Chaffin (my mother's dad) was only 6 mos old. G-grandfather had TB (consumption). This 'dying' young started with James Milton Chaffin dying when Jesse Marion was just 7 mos old, Jesse Marion died when Jesse Hubert was just 6 mos old, Jesse Hubert's wife Ruby Blankenship died when my mother was 1 year, 11 mos & 1 wk old - following the birth of their son - Jesse Herbert who was just 9 hrs old when Ruby passed away. Then my Uncle - Jesse Herbert Chaffin was MIA in the South Pacific during WWII in Apr 1945 and his son was just almost 4 years old. I think our family has finally gotten over this 'curse' or whatever it was after 5 generations of parents dying when children were so young. Thanks for listening. AGAIN a great big THANK YOU to Dove CHAFFIN Osborne. Lynda Logan Ona, WV Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
