The information I originally saw was from Anderson Ball in the 1930s. He said (and I have heard it repeatedly over the years)that James Fitzpatrick was an illegitimate son who took his mother's name of Moore when he deserted the British Army and joined the Continentals. I have never seen a source document on James or Mary. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have a story that James Fitzpatrick Moore came to Kentucky as an escapee from a ship as an indentured servant. He jumped ship when they were near shore and made his way inland to escape being captured and returned to servitude. And I have no proof either. Once I was told that Fitz meant that the person was illegitimate children of royalty. I have no proof of any of this but it sounds as good as many of the other stories. mfodw From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, January 06, 2011 9:03 AM To: kylawren@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: Moore/Fitzpatrick - Erringhart in KY & PA & Ireland This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
