I assume that Mary died before 1892 because Hiram had been married to Kate for 8 years where he's found in Lawrence County in the 1900 Census. Alice's husband, Henry William Bluebaum (1875-1946), was the son of John Henry (1845-1883) and Henrietta Powers (1849-after 1900) Bluebaum. John Henry married spelling his name as his father did -- Bloebaum-- Apparently his Civil War enlistment records were under the Bluebaum spelling. At some point after their marriage, the couple began using that Surname. My grandfather, William Edgar and Edith were two of Alice & Henry's children. I would certainly enjoy hearing from you! The J.P. tombstone you mentioned with the Co G 173 Ohio Volunteer Infantry inscription is James Perry Rankin, the father of John Henry. According to the notes made by Evelyn Jackson's 1870 Census (located in the Boyd County KY Library, James was the step-son of Henry Phillips. He was in the Civil War and married Harriet Powers in Lawrence County 31 Aug 1865. Their family included 8 daughters and 1 son. James and Harriet's neighbors are her sister, Henrietta Powers Bloebaum, and her mother, Catherine Wiseman Gallagher. All the above families lived in the Waterloo, Symmes Creek Township, Lawrence County, OH before 1869. James married Harriet Powers 31 Aug 1865. Her sister, Henrietta Powers, married John Henry Bloebaum in April 1866. (My guess is that Harriet named her first two children for her sister & brother-in-law.) Harriet & Henrietta were the illegitimate daughters of John Powers & Catherine Wiseman Gallagher. By the end of the Civil War, John was one of the wealthiest men in Symmes Township from selling timber & cattle to the militray depot near Gallipolis. When he decided to move to Boyd County, he purchased a $1,000 farm for each of the girls. (I have the deed for Henrietta's under her name on Rootsweb, as well as the family tree for the Bluebaums) Oh, Catherine Wiseman Gallagher is the 11-years-younger sister of John's wife, Mary Ann Wiseman Powers. ;>) Harriet Rankin, John Powers, John Henry & Henrietta Bluebaum, & Catherine Wiseman are all also buried in the Fannin Cemetery in Boyd County. Hope this helps! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. David Campbell, married to Artie Steele. He died and she married an Adams. I was told she was buried in Webbville Cemetery, where her son, Russell Campbell is buried. All of them lived most of their lives in Lawrence CO., or Carter CO. Henry Campbell, my grandfather, married Sarah Belle Boggs. I have lots of info on them. I am hoping you have some information on some of those mentioned here. Also David had a brother named Cas, his daughter maried a Thomas Adams, they moved to just outside of Ironton OH., and was buried in Aid Cemetery, Lawrence CO OH. you can email me at cherleadford@aol.com Thanks.
