In your last posting you informed an individual about a family group sheet re: BALL ancestry pertaining to James Ballard BALL (1781 VA? - 1865)and Nancy BREEDING (1790 VA?- sometime after 1860). I would love to know about their children and whatever else you may be willing to share backward. I, in return, will do the same with whatever I possess. I'm attempting to come forward with very little knowledge concerning their daughter, Lucinda Ann BALL b: 4/27/1827 and d: 7/10/1897 both in Lawrence Co., KY. She married 10/4/1844 in Lawrence Co., KY (bk # 2; pg. # 15 years unknown) to David MOORE b: 10/10/1824 and d: 9/16/1910 both in Lawrence Co., KY as well. I know about David's military career and a sister (Margaret Ida "Maggie" MOORE), but nothing else. They and their children are mentioned in the 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1900 Federal Census of Lawrence Co., KY. If this rings bells with anyone in relation to their ancestry I'd love to heard from you. This has been a concrete wall for me where the connection is of Lucinda BALL and David MOORE for years. I am great granddaughter of Charles McKenzie who married Maggie Spencer, d/o Jasper Spencer married Laura Ingram. (Powell Co KY) Charles and Maggie can be found in the 1910 Census for Farmer's, Rowan Co, KY with their five children: Oscar, Carl, Myrtle Mae, Anna Belle and baby Alba. (Baby Alba, my grnadmother, married Perry Harmon Brewer, s/o Daniel B Brewer and Fannie Perry.) I cannot find a death cert for Charles is my brickwall. His father was Oscor McKenzie--mother unk at this time. I'm thinking it was probably Eliza A Lewis--but another Oscar married a Grizzle--- My 80 year old Aunt said Charles was hit by lightening while working away from home. He was standing under a tree with a man named Andy Emerson when a sudden storm arose, and the lightening ran across the ground to where they were standing. Both men were killed. This would have been before 1920. In 1920 his wife, Maggie Spencer McKenzie(1884-1918approx), she died during the flu epidemic leaving all five children orpahns. The Spencer family took all the kids in. My grandmother Alba was raised in the HH of Jasper(1851-1925) and Laura Spencer. Alba(1908-1974) was orphaned at age 8, married at age 17 to Perry Brewer(1904-1936), and widowed in 1936, and remarried to Russell Phipps by 1940. The only other thing I know about my great grandfather Charles McKenzie is a little confusing--he had a "brother" named Victor. This brother was not on any census with the family. Maggie, had a sister named Cynt. (she had other sisters too..) Anyhow, Cynt, the sister of Charles' wife, got pregnant by Ol' Oscor after his wife had died, and before she married. Any help is greatly appreciated. Pam Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She was Nannie, Annie, Anna, or possibly Nancy Ann Kelley who married mt Gr Grandfather John D. (Tobe, Tobie) Pinkerton. They are listed on the 1900 census at Twin Branches, Lawrence Co. Ky. My Grandmother, Hallie, age 3 is listed with them. I am not sure what my Gr Grandmother's first real name is. I do know that her last name was Kelley before she married John (Tobe) pinkerton. My family referred to her as Nannie by her first name, however, I think that was anickname. In researching, I believe that she was Nancy Ann Kelley, a daugher of Pleasant Kelley and Anna Little. My Gr GRandmother supposingly died in Lawrence Co beteen 1900 after the census and 1910. Tobe (John) Pinkerton is remarried in 1910 to my Step Gr Grandmother, Nora and is living in West Va. I find it interesting that Nancy Pinkerton Kelley and Pleasant Kelly (A brother of Nancy Ann Kelley) seem to follow one another, so there must be a connectionof kin s! omehow. I also note that Jesse Gamle (Gambill) and Mary Holbrook is with my Gr Grandmother and Tobe Pinkerton on the 1900 census. They are listed as a neice and nephhew. Does anyone know this connection or know where my Grandmother is buried. I was told that Lawrence Co. has lost some of their death records back then but she has to buried somewhere there.
