    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Macedonia, Rockcastle River Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EBB.2ACE/2521 Message Board Post: My family grew up on the Rockcastle River on the Rockcastle County side in the early 1900s, west of where I-75 is now. I remember my dad and uncle talking about crossing the river to go to church and a one-room schoolhouse. I think maybe it was in the same building. They said the church was called Macedonia and I think it was Baptist. Can anyone shed some information on this? Anything would be appreciated. How long was the church/school there and is there anything left? Any historic background? Thanks!

    3. The following is from the pamphlet/booklet "LAUREL COUNTY HISTORY OF CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS" written April 1900. It appears to be the church you are looking for. Janette Dees Burke _________________________________________ MACEDONIA M. E. CHURCH MAPLESVILLE, KY. Was organized July, 1895. In 1860 there was an organization effected, but did not prosper and grow, till it was revived under the preaching of George CLOYD, Nelson KETRON and L. M. ROBINSON, in July and August of 1895, in the school house. The result of this revival was the organization of the church and the building of a house. Rev. BAKER preached the first sermon in the new house shortly after Christmas, 1896. A Sunday School is kept up in the summertime. [Why should not the Sunday School be an evergreen Sunday School?] Preaching at this place every third Saturday and Sunday of each month by Pastor George H. CANNON, a peculiar man of God.
