According to his grandson, Henry Clay Spivey, in an interview with John J. Dickey, Zadoc was from the area of the Nollichucky River in NC. Zadoc endentured his son, David, to John Bates on March 4, 1823 to learn the art of farming. - Public record, Clay Co. Court House. This is not my family, just searching Bates Family for a friend.
