Kathy I am impressed with your "few hour" response time ! I am spawning my search for my grandparents from my mothers Trigg county birth certificate- I expect things not to be as stated. my mother was born march 16, 1918 father: henderson holt, age 32, birthplace: cruise, kentucky mother: aggie browning holt, age 28, birthplace: cruise, kentucky. after doing the math, I was expecting birthdates for my grandfather around 1886, and my grandmother around 1890. my mother is named fannie, and had an older sister....who I think was named Elizabeth...so, the name sourcing from family logic fits in the browning search you did...the age also is similar- and quite possibly swapped around on the birth certificate ? making 1890 "her" birthdate, and "her" age 32. (really 34, but you know women !) the age disparity between henderson and aggy is too great to be valid though, although not impossible... henderson is a peculiar name for the region, and unless another can be found, may in reality be a match. their marraige certificate-where ever that took place-would bolster or reject the pairing as you found it. there is very little for me to really document in the time line, or with stories, etc. whatever the facts are has been distorted, and realigned intentionally for years, as if there were "issues" in the way that needed to intentionally get lost and forgotten about. my mother never had a middle name, her name was frances, her birthdate was 1919, and her parents both came from england was always the story----until I found the birth certificate ! she often spoke of rockcastle, the tva and the cumberland dam flooding...which I now find was the trigg county tva project. thisis my first endeavor into trying to reconstruct a past, so, i expect to be derailed by family secrets and modifications. how do i source marraige certificates-if they were even in vogue back then-in kentucky ? thanks again--I will see if i can find more to go on in my mothers papers peter
