Jessie, our family has a chair like that that has been used by three and soon to be four generations. It is cherished by all of us. Our chair has a solid wooden seat. Several years ago, the kids who used it decided it would be a good idea to turn it upside down and carve the names of all the youngsters names into it, with dates of birth. We carved our names as small as we could so there would be plenty of room for future generations.
