Does anyone have the Civil War Service records for Wiley Jones? Information I have found indicates he either resigned or deserted on May 2, 1862. His brother, Captain Edmund Jones (my 3rd G. Grandfather) died after the battle of Shiloh on about May 1, 1862. Edmund was also in the 24th KY Inf. I suspect the reason Wiley left the army was to help take care of the affairs of Edmund's death, and possibly retrieve his remains? For those researching this family, Wiley had a son, Samuel Wable Jones who left Laurel Co., Kentucky about the same time as Edmund's son, Nimrod Columbus Jones (my 2nd G. Grandfather). They both moved to Newton County Missouri at about the same time, and possibly moved together. If you have any information on this family, I would appreciate sharing info. Neil S. Jones

In my files I have a Wiley Jones 1811-1893 who in 1832 in KY married Sarah Hendrickson 1814-1900. They had a son Samuel b 1837 who Jan 16 1860 in Laurel Co KY married Mary C. Hendrickson. I don't have their children. Mary's parents went to Newton Co. MO. And died there. I don't have parents and siblings of Wiley Jones b 1811 Harlan Co KY And don't know if he served in the Civil War. Neil, I don't have a copy of the pension file, but I think I do have copies of his muster records around here. I haven't entered the info into my database yet, because I hadn't gotten all the Wileys separated out. Is this particular Wiley the one that married Sally Hendrickson or the one that married Charlotte ? I've been mostly collecting info on the sons of John "Jack" Jackson Jones and Sallie Green. Their son, Sparks Jones, is my hubby's 2g grandfather.
