I am researching my gg-grandfather, Sterling Tucker BARRETT born circa January 1847. Looking for other researchers to share information and fill in gaps. His father and mother are suppose to be John and Malinda (Arrowood) BARRETT. They were suppose to have had the following children: + William A. Barrett was born September 24, 1829 + Lucinda Barrett was born circa 1832 + Elizabeth Barrett was born circa 1836 + Wiley C. Barrett was born circa 1837 + John J. Barrett was born July 16, 1837 + Malinda H. Barrett was born circa 1843. + James M. Barrett was born April 1846 + Stephen Barrett was born in Yancey Co, NC January 1850 + Thomas Barrett was born circa 1853 + Rachel M. Barrett was born December 22, 1584 According to another researcher, Ralph Clark: In 1830, John, Malinda and WIlliam were recorded in the census of Buncombe County not many lines away from William and Thomas BArrett. The location hasn't been identified with regard to its distance from Malinda's father, James Arrowood, in Macon County. Yancey was formed partly out of Buncombe County in 1837, and it was there that the 1840 census found John and his family. Son Sterling was born there in 1847. In the Census of 1850, John was listed in Clay Co, KY. In the Census of 1860, John was listed in Laurel Co, KY. In the Census of 1870, John was listed in Laurel Co, KY. Sterling T. Barrett married twice. He married M.A. Sexton March 3, 1869 in Laurel Co., KY. Sterling T. Barrett is found on the 1880 Census with wife Martisha (Waddle). Martisha was daughter of James and Sarilda (Butner) Waddle. My family descends through Sterling's daughter, Malinda (Linnie) mainly in Bartholomew Co., IN. No one in our family seems to be aware of the first marriage to M.A. Sexton. But there was an in-law that claimed he had been married before he married Marticia.
