Would it be possible for you to scan me a copy of the letter written by Jarvis Moore to Edmond Moore about the death of Thomas Moore. I am also in the Moore line. My gg grand father was Jessee Moore. He had sons Thomas B. Moore, John Moore and James Moore. A bunch of the Moore cousins are trying to find out who Jessee Moore's parents were. My Jessee Moore is buried in Moore Cemetery, Keokee, VA. He was born between 1819 and 1824. His wife was Margaret Ramey. Thanks a bunch. Re newspaper records, was the Samuel Black that moved to Madison County married to Betsy Mershon Black? Sandy
Does anyone have the parents of William Forbis/Forbes and/or Sarah Denny who married Nov 08, 1847 Laurel Co KY. Thanks for sharing any family information on the above people. 'R.E.'
Tracing "Samuel Black" family lines in Laurel County is very difficult, because there were several Samuel Black's that lived in the area. One other moved to Madison County in 1888 according to the newspaper records. My Samuel Black family lived in Southern Laurel County, which was actually part of Whitley County until 1876. I have a copy of there 1860 census from Whitley County. My Samuel Black was married to Rhoda Steele. I don't have any idea of the parentage of my Samuel Black. Good luck on your sorting out of the Black families. Fran
Thanx so much for the info Fran.... This Luther Black seems to have "disappeared" after the news clip of his marriage license application ca 1903 in Laurel Co. area. If Luther and Ida B. Clark did marry, they may have moved and that is why i cannot find them. If they didn't marry, i have no clue as to what Ida's married name is. Again, thanx so much!!! charlotte Fammw@aol.com wrote: Tracing "Samuel Black" family lines in Laurel County is very difficult, because there were several Samuel Black's that lived in the area. I am showing a William L. Black b abt 1794 married to Jane E. Metcalf (daughter of Norris Metcalf). William L. Black is the correct age to be a brother of Samuel 'Sam' Black b abt 1794. William L Black moved (as did other Black family members) with the Metcalfs to Livingston/Grundy Co MO abt 1837 along with the Elkins and Hensons ... My George W Henson of Laurel Co KY among them. All of these familes were neighbors in Laurel Co KY and probably moved together as a group in a wagon train to MO. William L Metcalf returned to Mo as did my George W Henson and the Elkins abt 1845? Two of George's daughters married into the Elkins family as did Jane's brother William Henry Metcalf who stayed in Grundy Co MO and became a Judge. William L Black died June 07, 1860 Rockcastle Co KY. Know anything about my George W Henson b abt 1799 NC. He was found in the 1828 Laurel Co KY Tax List and later in the 1847-48 Tax Lists. Located in the 1850 Laurel Co KY Census in the household of John Drew and Ibby. Thanks for sharing. Is anyone researching the Charles Gumbert family? He was born in Germany in 1858, came to the Swiss Colony in late 1800's, moved to Ohio later. He had a butcher shop in London at one time. I am interested in the connection with the Jacob Bill family, as Charles married the daughter of Anna Marie and Jacob Bill. Thanks!
