My Great Grandmother had a younger brother John W. who was listed on the 1860 census as bing 10 months old. At that time that there southern part of what was to be in Laurel County was still part of Whitley County. I don't have any record of what become of any of her brothers, but I have seen references to John W.Black. I have not been able to contact any of the people who did the postings. If this is your John W. Black I would be interesting in hearing more from you. There parents were Samuel Black and Rhoda Steele Black. Fran

My GGF John Clark also is listed in this 1880 RC KY census living near your Spivey family. There are several families who are listed as coal miners, coal merchants next to each other. My Clark's also listed as coal miner in 1880, 1890 and 1900 KY census. John died March 1901 in KY. Have no details on his death other than date. He could have had a mining accident, etc... John married Permela/Amelia E. Burton ca 1871-73. John's mother-in-law Margaret Brooks Burton and his bro-in-law James Burton are listed next door to John and Permela. James' also coal miner. My Clark is my brickwall so i'm now checking his neighbors who are coal miners in this 1880 Census. Who knows, maybe my Clark will be mentioned in your Spivey info somewhere down the road.... 3. This is a silly question, but I am confused. In order to get the Kentucky Death Certificate CD number Two, I will need to send 5 original death certificate's plus $3.00 for it? Also, how can I receive the CD # One? Sherry ----- Original Message ----- From: <foe3643@mac.com> To: <KYLAUREL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 10, 2004 9:00 PM Subject: [KYLAUREL-L] KY Death Certificate CD This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EBB.2ACE/2553 Message Board Post: I have finally gotten around to making My Kentucky Death Certificate CD number Two. Here are the rules and the changes for contributing and obtaining a CD. 1. you MUST submit atleast 5 death certificates to the project. I would prefer the Death Certificates to be hard copies mailed to me at my home address. The reason I am requesting hard copies is that I would like to donate them to the library here in town. However, if it isn't possible I know some people have them on their computer and not a hard copy. Then they must be sent to me as a JPEG and I HAVE TO know in ADVANCE before you send them so my inbox doesn't become over loaded. 2. The Death Certificate MUST have a Kentucky connection. 3. It was requested last time that there be some contact information on the Death Certificate. This is to difficult for me to do or to time consuming, but if you want to hand write your e-mail address on the Death Certificate this would be a great way to pass along the information in case someone sees a connection. 4. The price has gone up. Last time it actually cost me money to make the CD so this time the cost is $3.00 per CD. Yes, you can order more than one CD but remember there is a minimum of 5 Death Certificates per CD. The reason for the minimum is that I want to fill up the CD to make it more useful for all. Right now I have approximately 1,000 death certificates and the CD will hold about 2,000. The last CD contained 1,940 Death certificates. 5. Checks and DC's Can be mailed to me at Cassy Sommers 1407 Woodwind Ct Corbin, Kentucky 40701 6. There will be no exceptions this time the CD will go out by January 15th with or without the 2,000 DC's if we get that many before the 15th it will go out sooner. Hope all will join in and please feel free to pass this message around to anyone who has a Kentucky connection. Cassy.
