I saw Grant Templin many times, I remember him as laughing a lot and his mouth looked like a gold mine. I knew of the Delph's on Johnson Ridge. My second cousin Edith Moore (d/o Will and Parilee Moore married Alex Delph) There is a Delph Cemetery out the road between E B and HWY #25. HWY#25 went through E B when we lived there. I went to school at E B to the 8th grade before Dad came to work at Oak Ridge TN. Darrel and J. B. Parsley were teachers at E B then. It is good to see people talking about some of the folks I knew as a child. I was born at East Bernstadt in 1933. My Dad was Otis Howard who drove a taxi, my mother was Florence Robinson daughter of Will and Laura Robinson who lived at Mershons, right across the road from the River Hill Cemetery. My greatgrandfather Leander Robinson and my grandparents are there as well as my mother Florence Robinson Wathen Howard. As well as a host of other relatives. My Dad is buried at the Snuffer Graveyard that used to be on the road to Johnson Ridge, as is my grandparents William J and Mary Ann Howard. Frances Howard Hickey Roane Co. TN
Ted Templin, the son of Grant Templin married Betty Carter. Betty was born in 1912 and was the daughter of Harry Carter and Nora Cornelius. I grew up in that area. My family (Nelson & Cox) resided in Jonesborough, TN prior to moving to this area. The Confederates had a permanent army in Jonesborough throughout the Civil War to prevent the citizens of this area from raising an army to assist the north. Most citizens in Jonesborough, TN did not own slaves so weren't very supportive of the south. My family left TN between 1859 - 1860 to find a more neutral (safer) residence. Let me know if you need more assistance. I have been reseaching for about 10 years and wondered the same thing. If you can trace your relatives to the Jonesborough area they have great records at their court house.

My grandfather is from Hazel Green, Ky which is about five miles from East Bernstadt. The Delph's lived on Johnson Ridge which is about a mile and a half from East Bernstadt. There was a Lloyd Delph that lived in this area, his wife was Myrtle Cox Delph. Their children Harold and Ellamae (Miller) live in Southern, Ohio (Cincinnati & Hamilton). Harold was born in KY and is about 72. Lloyd was killed in a car accident in Harland, KY and the family lived with the Cox's in Hazel Green, KY before moving into a house built by Roscoe Cox in Hazel Green. I'm rather certain that your Delph's are my Delph's so let me know if you're interested in more information.
In Oklahoma it has not been above 28 degrees since Wednesday, until today. We had four inches of snow and ice. Wanda

CHRIST is the reason why we have CHRISTMAS. I could care less what these so called idiots think of being incorrect. I heard on a radio station that one way for them to re-think of being correct is NOT TO SHOP one year Give home made gifts, plus turn off the T.V. and share stories, and just like an old time Family Reunion.
